Neville was very quiet at dinner. Most of what he said came out in a choked, low tone. He was too nervous to say much to her father. What if he didn't approve? What would happen if he told Hannah that he didn't like her boyfriend? He loved Hannah. The last two months of his life had been the happiest he had ever known.

When dinner was over, though, and the women went to make a bathroom stop to change Lucy and freshen up (or whatever women did in the bathroom... it was all a mystery to Neville), he was left alone with Mr. Abbott and he had to say something.

There was that burning question.

"Uh..." he froze.

	Neville nodded. "I did it for me, but also for you and for Lucy," he said. "Because you shouldn't have to lose me." Neville really did believe that being an Auror was tempting fate. Neville tended to have a Dark Fate. His life before meeting Hannah had proved that. The longer he stuck his neck out the longer he risked losing what few blessings he had. That remark was more than enough to pull out some brutal honesty from Hannah, even if she did it in a hesitant tone. "I want you to do whatever you want so that you'll be happy, because that matters a lot to me, but I would be lying if I said a part of me didn't hope and wish for it. I don't want to lose you. I don't want Lucy to lose you -" She had to swallow to keep her emotions in check.

"I'm not sure I'd be able to take it and be there for Lucy to the right level." Tyler had meant a great deal to her, but Lucy had been an accident. They hadn't developed terribly far as a couple. Despite the option to do the "proper" thing when Hannah discovered she was pregnant, they decided to keep on as they were and let things develop. While losing him had been devastating, part of it had been mourning for what might have been - and a great deal was mourning for Lucy's loss in never knowing her father. Neville was different. Hannah's feelings for him were different. She wasn't sure what she would feel or how she would cope if she lost Neville.

"I love you," he said. "And I don't intend to go anywhere." Neville felt his heart start to pound on the walls of his chest. He knew that this was his opportunity and so he slipped his hand into his coat pocket (the coat had been left draped over the back of the couch) and pulled out the little bag. He knew he wasn't going to be very stealthy about it so he didn't try.

"I want to be there for you and Lucy forever," he said, slipping the antique ring out of the baggy. It had been his mothers', one his father had painstakingly picked out for her some time in the 70's. Neville was just pleased that Frank hadn't gone with the popular Art Deco style of the time.

	"I love you, too." Hannah answered before shifting to see what he was doing. She was surprised to see the baggy and even more so to see what he pulled out of it. She stared, wide-eyed. Was it what it looked like? (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Neville was sure she could heart his heart beating. It felt like it was jumping up his throat and the resulting tension made it almost impossible to speak without sounding strangled. He cleared his throat.

"I want to take care of you, and Lucy. Even though I know you're capable of taking care of yourself," he added as a disclaimer. Some girls got so offended by chivalry and Neville wanted to be safe. "I want to be there for you, forever. I want to raise Lucy as my own." Neville was speaking quickly. He had memorized something like this and his fairly accurate recital was getting rushed with anxiety.

"Hannah, will you marry me?"

	Hannah hadn't been expecting the question at all. Yes, they loved each other, but she had seen it as something for the future. Still, hearing it and even without taking a second to process, she knew the answer. "Yes." She nodded emphatically, still wide-eyed, staring at his the ring in his hand. 	Neville grinned. He took her hand and slipped the ring on. The band was charmed to fit to the hand it was on. He thought the jitters would go away if she said yes but not his hands were shaking with excitement. Neville looked down at the ring and back up at Hannah and kissed her. 	Hannah was somewhere between crying and breaking out into a huge grin when Neville kissed her. While returning the kiss, not even thinking about it, she brought her hands upward and behind his neck in a makeshift hug. After finally breaking the kiss, she found herself grinning. 	Neville couldn't wait to tell Ginny. He laughed, because he was too happy and relieved to think of words to express it, and kissed her again. Neville had let the pressure and the anxiety build on him all day and now he felt almost weightless. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Neville found that he didn't need the full moon to feel that attraction to her. It wasn't as urgent or raw, but Neville found the hair on his neck standing up and a warmth growing below his belly. He still wanted her! Neville was overjoyed.

Neville focused his efforts on the kiss, now, letting the tension of the moment before fade away. He sighed as he parted his lips and brought his hand up to touch her cheek.

Hannah broke into a rather large grin at that, leaning in and giving Neville yet another kiss. This time it was just a peck, but a kiss all the same. "I'm going to be hyper now, you know. I - when do we want to shoot for marrying?" Did they want a long engagement or short? It wasn't exactly the ideal time, but the question popped out of Hannah's mouth before she really thought about it. Ideally, she wanted a small, simple wedding. Friends and family - and whomever Neville wanted - but no big fuss. The simple fact was that, especially if Neville was figuring out where to move his plants to, it seemed like figuring out living arrangements would be good. Hannah rather loved the idea of having Neville around in a living space sense more so than just stopping by for meals and a bit of time after.

	"I... I didn't think... I guess I really didn't think past popping the question. Wasn't sure you'd say yes." He figured they'd need a little time for Gran to cool off. He wanted her at the wedding without a string of curses under her breath, but he knew it was going to take a while for her ego to recover from Neville telling her off. Hannah took a bit of liberty that she hadn't before. She gave Neville a small poke in the shoulder and frowned. She adored him and had no problems with either of them having a case of the nerves, but she wanted him to realize just how much she cared. She hadn't taken the question lightly. "Why wouldn't I say yes? You asked me if I love you, want to spend the rest of my life with you, and if I want to have you as Lucy's father. Of course the answer to all three of those is yes."

That got a small smile - and a small sigh - out of Hannah. She leaned in and gave him yet another peck. "Well, I would like for Lucy to start getting used to you being around more. I want you to be around for her." In other words, living arrangements might need to be considered at some point.

"And you didn't even need to propose to get an answer out of me for that one - yes, I want to be with you. I just want to make sure we go about this in the most comfortable and smartest way we can."

	That got a blush and small laugh out of Hannah. "Erm - well, of course. I will admit that I'm not exactly... the most knowledgeable. Lucy was a happy accident that didn't take a lot of effort." That got another blush and flat out timid smile out of Hannah. "Well, I can get birth control potion by then." Lucy didn't need a sibling before the pair were married and, really, the two didn't need the financial responsability as Neville was trying to open his own business on a larger scale.

"Lucy could stay the night at her grandparents again, if we'd like. I know my parents love having her about and it's good for her to have the experience. We could make it a relaxed time and let it lead where it leads."

	Neville wasn't sure how relaxed he was capable of being with the moon shining overhead. He nodded anyway. "That sounds nice." He looked down at the ring, feeling a rush of pride swelling in his chest. She wanted to marry him. Everything else took a back seat to that knowledge. (Reply to this) (Parent)
