who: Verity Ashford, Oliver Wood
when: 25 August 2004
where: York and Albany
what: Oliver hopes to make Verity's 26th a birthday to remember.
The room Oliver had hired for the evening was topped only by the view from its windows; an unobstructed British horizon, rolling greens battling with the slate heavens amidst a healthy sprinkling of treetops. Dinner was to be downstairs in one of the finest restaurants in Britain, the York and Albany, and as the small hotel only held ten accommodations, though the atmosphere of the restaurant was pristine and modern, it still felt intimate and charming.
Suited to the 9's, ring in his pocket, Oliver escorted Verity to their window-side table, and waved off the waiter, taking it upon himself to pull out his date's chair. Anything to set the mood, to make it all perfect, because what was coming later would determine the rest of their lives together. Starting off on the right foot never hurt anyone.
'All settled, my dear?'
