RP: Limbs did not break
Who: Neytiri, open to house members & visitors
Where: Her house
When: Morning hours, February 7, 2010
Rating/Warning: None? Cranky alien? idk
Summary: Neytiri attempts to understand how she is broken
Status: Open, ongoing

When it had happened in Hell, the breaking of her ankle, it had genuinely surprised her. She had known that the sky people were not as sturdy as the Na'vi, but to be that fragile? It was nearly unthinkable. Fortunately, by the time it had happened, she was no longer alone with Barney, but had joined with another woman with a large black cat.

Together, they had survived until the rescue, though Neytiri had been in no small amount of pain. She had been tended by the doctor who had also been in Hell. A heavy cast was on her leg, and it made her already questionable balance even moreso. She did not like it, but she found that laying on the couch did tend to gain her a bit of sympathy and people would bring her things she required - like food and drink. They'd set up a bedroom of sorts downstairs so she wouldn't risk injury on the stairs.

At least something good had come of this ... Jaime seemed somewhat more accepting of her. At least she was not met with glares and snippy comments.

Exhaling softly, a little bored and a little irritated that she couldn't move around, she gazed at the television and some inane program. How did people stand rotting their brains with this? Picking up her device, she checked the journals but there was nothing new of interest to speak of. Perhaps things would be quiet now.

She couldn't decide if that was better or worse.

She likely would have heard a series of thumps and banging sounds. Dug had been running around upstairs, had slipped and tumbled down them. Hitting the bottom, he looked around bewilderly, slightly dizzy. And he giggled a bit.

"Oops," he said, sitting up and shaking his body out a bit, making sure that nothing was overly injured. Scratches and bumps he'd gotten familiar with dealing with. For the major injuries, for the most part he'd been lucky, but he did know how to curl up to avoid the worst of the injuries.

"Morning Ri!" he said cheerfully, bounding over to where she was resting. "Are you feeling better today? Is there anything that I can get you?"

She had heard the noises, and she'd anticipated who it was. She bit back a sigh as he tumbled down the stairs - why did he never break? He certainly did enough things that might have broken him.

"Good morning, Dug," she said. She tried not to be snappish, because it was not anyone's fault, these things. It was not his fault she had been drawn into hell and had broken herself. It was not his fault he was an obnoxious being.

Well. The last one was somewhat questionable.

"I am not feeling any better," she admitted, teeth briefly baring. Why wasn't she feeling better? Why was she not mended yet? "There is nothing to get for me," she continued. She thought asking him to get her anything would likely be a disaster.

His face moved into a conflicted expression, and he whined slightly in the back of his throat as he looked at her, crouching down beside the couch and resting his chin on the edge of it, by her stomach as he regarded her.

"I am sorry you are not feeling better," he told her honestly. "Did the doctors tell you how long it would be before you would feel better? Are you sure you do not want some more medicine? Master Mal showed me where I can find it for when his back hurts because he has been..."

He paused, frowned. He wasn't supposed to say that outloud anymore. Mal had almost hit him last time he had ended that sentence 'busy with Jaime'.

"... out fighting," he was rather proud of himself for coming up with a reasonable ending to that sentence, and he nearly glowed. "Or I could carry you outside and you could try to play? Or you could use those... stick... things..." he waved his hand. He thought he had seen stick things that were meant to be used to keep her weight off her ankle.

"Weeks," she said, her lips curving into a slight snarl. She did not relish the idea of being laid up in this broken body for that long. Granted, Corey had mentioned she might be able to speed things up once she'd had a chance to rest ... but Neytiri wasn't going to hold her breath. "Na'vi do not break," she muttered. "We are more sturdy than this. This human body."

She scoffed and sighed before she shook her head to decline Dug's offer. She also had a fairly good idea of where he'd been headed with that ... but opted not to comment. She was simply glad Jaime had calmed down and backed off, whatever the reason.

"I do not believe I am good for playing, nor do I wish to go to the cold." It wasn't worth it to bundle up enough that she could tolerate the temperatures. "But I thank you for your concern."

He frowned, scratching at the behind of his ears in thought. He stared at her injured leg intensely, as though that would help him focus.

"We could go to a movie?" he suggested. "They spend a lot of time sitting down there and I could carry you. Or or... or maybe if we wrap your leg in lots and lots and lots and lots of pillows, it will not hurt you to walk on it."

He nodded his head. That made sense to him. Pillows made everything better, and lots more pillows wrapped around the leg would protect it from harm.

"I do not wish to go anywhere," she said quietly, but gently. She understood that he was simply trying to be helpful in the few ways he knew how.

She had not been out to a movie, but she understood what they were. She did not relish the idea of being trapped in a dark building with large flashing lights. Even if her human body was equipped for it, she lacked desire to subject herself to it. Plus, she heard they were very loud.

"I also do not think pillows would help," she continued, gazing down at her cast-encased leg. "But I appreciate the thoughts."

Her lips parted to ask him if he should be doing something else, but she thought she might give whoever he'd been following around lately a break and keep him here for a bit.

"Oh," Dug said. He did his best not to look crestfallen, but he felt like he had failed her, even if she did not ask him to help her find solutions for her broken leg. But he still felt as though he could be useful, if only he knew how. But he was useless, because he didn't.

"Can I get you anything?" had he asked that? He didn't think he had. Or maybe he had opened with it. He didn't remember now, it had been so long ago. "I could get you some medication. I know where it is! Master Mal has to use it when..."

Oh yes. He remembered now.

"Oh. You said you didn't need..." he frowned. "Did you need any now? Or maybe you could throw a ball for me and I could fetch it for you!"

He did not like seeing anyone unhappy.

She listened as Dug repeated his prior offer, and was moderately impressed that he seemed to recall he'd said the things before. A smile played at her lips before she exhaled a subtle, soft sigh.

"Bring me your ball," she said. "I will throw it for you."

It was something to do, and it would keep him out of Mal and Jaime's hair for a bit ... and it didn't involve her using her leg.

He was very excited to do so. It felt like he was helping, giving her something to do. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't, but... she seemed to be amiable to the idea, and he never passed up an opportunity to run around the living room, chasing a ball, no matter how many people made fun of him for it.

"Okay! Okay! Oh boy!" he said, running around in a circle for a minute, searching for his ball.

Finally finding it, he brought it over to her (with his hands) and eagerly awaited her throw so that he could chase it around. He could honestly spend all afternoon doing this and not get bored in the slightest.

Neytiri offered Dug a slight smile as she took the ball. At least he didn't use his mouth; that would have been awkward, a little disgusting, and unnatural.

Almost absently, she tossed the ball toward the cleared place. She wouldn't have any problem doing this for the next half-hour or so, and by then hopefully he'd be worn out enough to simply watch TV or have a nap.

Either way, it took her mind off her leg ... for now.
