Things had really gone to hell since they'd gotten out of school, and it made him wonder sometimes if they couldn't just all get time turners and go back to that. Things had been simpler then, without having to worry about constantly defending himself against people who were supposed to be his best mates. He knew the undercover work he'd been doing was to blame - all his work with Voldemort's wolves, no wonder they were mistrusting. They didn't get the difficulties that he suffered and the cuts and bruises he endured just to get small pieces of information that he could pass to the Order. But he didn't care - he'd stopped doing it for them after the first fight anyway.

Or at least, that's what he told himself. He still couldn't help how much it stung when all of a sudden he returned to the surface after a moon and was told a load of rubbish about a prophecy, and Lily and James going into hiding, and... a whole lot of poppycock. It sounded bollocks to him, but what could he say? All he could do was nod his head and say, "Right. Of course. Minimize the number of poeple who know... my own safety, right right..."

He'd been outside having a smoke - a nasty habit he'd picked up to be sure, but what of it? It wasn't like he had any friends left to care about his health.

When suddenly, he felt a strong... tug somewhere. Almost like he was apparating, but he wasn't. Colours swirled around his head, and suddenly he felt it was a lot cooler, and there was crunchy snow under his feet, and a large barn to the side. His mouth kind of gaped open, and his heightened senses let him know that this... wasn't London anymore. Mostly because there wasn't a single smell in the air that was remotely familiar - at least, not on the surface. Maybe if he sniffed around he'd find... something.

Checking his pockets for a wand, he found a strange muggle device - he could only tell because of the way it flashed and beeped at him - and a shiny plastic card that he thought they must use for money. Maybe? Or something. It had raised bumps on it and his name, which weirded him out more than a little, but he pocketed them to be on the safe side.

"Hello?" he called out, on edge, wand in hand, ready to face the death eater that potentially had brought him here. If he didn't hear anybody, he started for the road, heading in the direction that he could sense the most people and life since he presumed it was a town.

He shifted, exhaling through his nose, and staring. He tried not to let his nerves show or get to him, forcing them back down as quickly as they showed up, but it was evident from the tension that slipped through his body that she'd taken him off guard. His grip in his wand tightened, and his breathing changed as he looked up at the... wolf? Could this creature be called a wolf?

... It didn't seem threatening, and he took some comfort in that. He'd be dead already if the creature wanted him dead, he was pretty sure, and he chose to just stare. Maybe it had heard him. Maybe it was sentient.

"Thank you," he said, because... it felt like the right thing to say in this situation. He'd asked it to show itself, it had, and if the creature was sentient it would probably like some acknowledgment of that. "Can you... speak?" he tried. He wasn't holding out too much hope for that though.

She relaxed even more at his reaction to her. He was clearly not going to attack, for if he was, he would have already. Her stance shifted herself and she sat down on her back legs, the way most dogs or wolves do before he spoke.

When he asked if she could speak, she shook her massive head from side to side in what could only be thought of as a 'no' to the question. She then decided that her human form would be the best for the situation and grunted before she bounded back into the thicket to phase back quickly. She didn't know if he had noticed the small bit of clothing attached to her back leg.

She changed quickly into her cutoff shorts and sports bra, becuase the less clothing she carried, the faster she went, and the cold didn't really affect her. She walked back into the clearing to meet the man. "Had to make sure you wouldn't try to kill me or anything. I'm stronger as a wolf."

He frowned when the wolf said it couldn't speak, but was pleased at least that it was sentient. He didn't quite lower his wand, or relax from his defensive stance. And he tensed up again as soon as she took off to run the other direction.

He was kind of stunned when a girl walked out of the trees again a moment later, and this time he did lower his wand, staring in shock. She smelled... vaguely like the wolf, enough for him to know that it had been her.

"Right, of course," he said, because there wasn't anything else to say, was there? "I... what..." he shook his head once. This was all very disconcerting. "Where are we, exactly?" he said, because that seemed the easiest place to start.

When he lowered his wand, she knew he was a little more at ease. She had seen that with her roommate, Libra. He must be the same kind of witch that she was, or close, at least, but he didn't smell quite the same. She didn't quite like being in that form around the barn. It unsettled her, and now that Libra had told her she didn't have to hide, and that there were things coming out of hell to hunt, she would have much preffered to stay a wolf. "Ipswich. Massachusetts. US." She then figured he could use a bit more of an explanation, but she needed to be on guard for his reaction, because she knew she had reacted violently. "Short version of this place? It's been pulling people from all different places and times. I'm from Seattle. I just got here a few days ago, myself." Seattle was close enough, and probably a lot more known than Forks, or La Push, but when she had arrived here she had been at College in California.

The accent was throwing him off, but it did a good job confirming her story now that he was calm enough to notice a difference. He kind of blinked at her explanation, and rubbed the back of his head a bit awkwardly, grinning slightly.

"Think you might have to give me the long explanation," he decided before he gestured in the way that he thought town was, given the smells in the area. "Is there... a town? Or is this all there is?" he waited for her answer before moving.

"So..." he supposed he could buy that there was something that was pulling people here, but he wondered what, exactly, it was. "How exactly has this place been pulling people from all kinds of realities?" and why had it picked him was his next question, but he didn't expect that she would know the answer to that one.
