"But he's old," Ashley protested with a quiet laugh. "Isn't he like, twice your age or something?" She, personally, didn't get it.

"Well, yes, now," Lily agreed, shoving her gloved hands deeper into her pockets. Her right was closed around her wand - just in case. "But we were friends at school. Really close friends, and I ... was starting to fall in love with him before ..." She hesitated. "Well, there was this incident, at the end of our fifth year, and things ... really fell apart. He was running with a bad crowd, and I ... moved on. I never forgot about him though. Never really gave up on him. Even after I started dating James ..."

She did feel a vague roll of guilt at the thought of James. But he'd been quite clear when he'd ... well, broken things off after he arrived. "And apparently ... according to James ... I never gave up on him after he and I were married. We ... apparently ... fought over my still defending him."

Shaking her head slightly, Lily shrugged as she looked around. "Besides, I'm not so shallow as to worry about what he looks like," she teased Ashley. "I love him. Plain and simple. He should simply accept that and get over his hangups."

The ice guardian smirked slightly, bumping gently against Lily's side. "Well, he's had a long time to grow those hangups," she pointed out softly as greyblue eyes scanned the darkness. "No man that age really thinks a barely legal's actually interested in him. There's always a catch."

"A barely legal," Lily echoed as she laughed and shook her head. "I'll have to keep that in mind."

She rolled her shoulders and slipped her wand out of her pocket. Lighting the tip of it, she lifted it to illuminate the more shadowy spots. The things were getting good at hiding ... and she didn't want to be taken by surprise.

"Sure, yeah. We'll be in touch. Probably a weekend or something, to work around work and school schedules," she said. She and Corey had school, and Lily had work, so there was definitely that to consider.

"It was good seeing you out though," Ashley said with a smile and a nod.

"Goodnight," Lily said quietly. Going in didn't sound like a bad idea though; she was certain Sev would appreciate her safe return.

	"Be careful out there," Scarlett told them, smiling as she lifted the hatchet to rest it back on one of her shoulders casually as she walked away. Oddly enough, it had been good seeing them again. This place was making Scarlett social. People back home would not have believed it. (Reply to this) (Parent)
