tl;dr
Hi guys! This is Cate. As you might have noticed… I dropped Iris Fox because I just wasn't feeling her. I decided to pick up another meta-resident instead. I hope you'll enjoy playing with him! I want all the storylines for him, please and thank you.
SIMON STRAND aka SPLINTER is a 31 year old meta-human who has been living at the facility since he was 13 (so 18 years ago). He is a beta with the power of shattering. As a kid he was kind of a hell raiser who got in a lot of trouble. He got better with age but that first year was something else. By the time he was an operative at 23 he was no longer as flippant about people's feelings and was developing real friendships, but he still liked to be the center of attention.
Three years ago he had an accident while on a mission. In trying to save a fellow operative, Simon shattered something to keep it from hitting him/her but couldn't get out of the way of the shards although another teammate was able to pull the other to safety. (I'd love to have these roles taken by played characters…). The result was that Simon's legs had been irrevocably damaged. He hoped against hope that he'd be able to be an operative again but a few months into his recovery he had to accept it wasn't going to happen. He grew up a lot as he came to terms with his reality but needed the support of good friends to help support him.
As he's been going through physical therapy he now walks with the aid of a cane and hopes to one day be able to go without it for some of the day. It might not be possible. He has been dabbling with artistic pursuits (although he feels weird admitting it) in trying to delicately use his shattering powers to create Easy artwork. BUT!!!! He's going to be starting to train meta humans really soon!! He's excited for 'real' work and he's really passionate about seeing people succeed.
So I really really want/need:
— Friends (past and present!)
— Former flames
— Those he can train
As a trainer he is extremely hard to please or impress during the actual training session. At the end of it, however, he can be very kind and constructive. That's the only time he really has a poker face, though, as he is pretty easy to read. Sometimes almost laughably so. He's no dummy but he doesn't really think before he talks unless he's 'in the zone'--prepared to be An Adult like while training or ready to have a heart to heart--so he can come off as inarticulate or a little stupid.
As always you can reach me at itsjustcate or caterwaulings @ gmail if you don't hit up my dropboxes! Would also love stuff with my gals (Edith/WHIRLWIND, Cora/PAPERCUT and Sadie/SCREAMER)
