Boys Will Be Boys (tag: Henry)
Felix leaned forward in the saddle, giving Stomper his head and letting him run at his own pace. And the horse was not at all interested in keeping it at a trot. He'd been missing the regular runs he used to get before the prince got married. Bluntly, so did Felix. So he grinned at the wind blowing through his hair, and encouraged Stomper to a greater speed.
Though, truly, it wasn't as though he was going to be late for his meeting. And even were he in danger of doing so, Felix knew that his friend would wait. After all, Henry understood the demands of being a prince as well. He knew that sometimes pleasure had to be put aside for responsibilities, as irritating as that could be. Though both of them were rather skilled at avoiding their respective duties if at all possible.
But it was a rare thing for them to be able to meet like this. At balls or official functions, certainly, they ran into each other. But there, they both had to behave in the manner that others expected. It made such gatherings far more interesting than they would be otherwise, but it was not the same as getting together without servants or courtiers or parents around. Or wives.
Though Felix was currently doing his best not to think about his.
The clearing that was the halfway point between his castle and Henry's was just around the next turn, and Stomper didn't slow down as he took the curve in the road. It wasn't until he actually saw Henry that he gently pulled back on the reins. Stomper reluctantly slowed, and once he was within earshot, Felix called out, “I hope I am not tardy. Have you been waiting long?”
