Thread: Riku and Kitty's Wedding Reception
Who: Riku, Kitty and all guests!
When: September 18th. 4pm --> Onwards!
Where: Waverly Inn.
What: Wedding Reception. Dinner, dancing, speeches, all that good stuff.
Rating: Low! It's a wedding!
Notes: Feel free to post your characters at any point during the reception. At a table having the meal, or dancing, or getting up to speak, or mingling!

The staff of the Waverly Inn had really out done themselves. The large room was beautifully done up for the wedding reception. Crisp linens covered the round tables that were clustered to one side of the room, with elegant floral centerpieces. At each place setting there was a little bottle of bubbles and little boxes of chocolates as the place favours.

The other side of the room was a dance floor, with a DJ set up in one corner, reading to play all the most fun music to dance to, as selected earlier by the bride and groom. At the front of the room was the head table, long and stretching, where the bride and groom would sit, flanked by their bridesmaids and groomsmen.

The buffet was also set up at the front. They had decided on that, to have something for everyone. It was a lovely buffet, that started with fresh rolls that were crisp on the outside and warm and fluffy on the inside. Various salads came next, and then mixed vegetables and rice dishes. There were trays of sushi and other Japanese dishes, and then trays of chicken and roast beef, as well as an eggplant casserole for the vegetarians. Dessert would come out later, sweets and little cakes - and of course the wedding cake. A beautiful white and pink layer cake (with a cute sock monkey bride and groom on the top), surrounded by rings of cupcakes. Each layer of the cake was a different flavour, and the cupcakes were a variety of flavours as well.

There was a cash bar for alcoholic delights, set up to one side as well. Of course there were bottles of wine for every table, but the bar was there for those who wanted a bit more than just a few glasses of wine!

Guests came at 4 o'clock, while Kitty and Riku and the wedding party were still out, finishing up with all of the photographs. The wedding party came at five, announced at the door. The bridesmaids and groomsmen walking in together, and then the emcee spoke, "And now may I present, Mr. and Mrs. Kimura." And of course everyone applauded as Riku and Kitty entered the room and the reception began properly.

Kitty was smiling brightly as she walked into the room, her arm linked with Riku's. Bristol had helped her re-do her makeup after her little crying fit at the church and now she was looking presentable again! They had made some beautiful pictures and Kitty still had to thank Avery for coming over to take them.

She only managed to stay at her seat for a short little while, her stomach starting to growl since she hadn't eating anything today yet. And damn the buffet looked just so damn good! Kitty was set on trying a bit over everything! When things had settled a little she smiled at Riku, her hand still linked with his.

"How about plundering the buffet? I'm famished!"

Riku was riding high on a wash of emotions as he walked into the room, arm in arm with Kitty. Smiling at the faces of friends and family, but mostly just smiling at the fact that he and Kitty were finally married.

"Agreed. I haven't eaten all day," he said with a soft chuckle as he lead her over to the buffet. Taking two plates and handing one to her. Riku had been a bundle of anxiousness and excitement in the morning, and couldn't stomach anything more than coffee. But now, now he was hungry.

He started putting things on his plate, a little bit of everything, because he wanted to try it all.

"Me either." Kitty said with a grin, laughing softly over how similar they were in some respects. But she had been so excited this morning there was no chance she could've eaten anything. She was happy enough she hadn't spilled coffee all over her dress.

"Oh god, this looks so good!" she grinned happily when Riku handed her the plate, glad that it was a big one with lots of room to staple yummy food on it. And that she did. Some of the sushi, of the veggies, a bit of everything. Well, almost everything, the plate wasn't that big sadly. But she'd gladly go a second time.

"You know what, you still have to show me how to eat with chopsticks." she grinned at her husband, the thought of finally being able to call him that officially only making her grin wider.

"It looks amazing," Riku agreed as his eyes ran up the line of the buffet. Other people were serving themselves as well, and people stopped by them to say congratulations, or to say how lovely Kitty looked and other things.

"I can definitely teach you," he grinned as he took some of the chicken and then some of the sushi as well. "The basics aren't too hard. Being able to eat things like rice, without going one grain at a time, is a little tricker." He took some potatos and then some of the rice, before moving on to the veggies.

"I can't wait till we get to break into that cake. Although it almost looks to nice to eat." But there would be dozens of photos of it!

Kitty was beaming happily at the congratulations and compliments, a light blush on her cheeks. But she was thankful that most people kept it short, especially those who knew her better and could see from how laden her plate was how hungry she really was. She excused herself from the last one who congratulated her with a smile, turning to Riku again.

"Later though, because now I'm way too hungry to deal with sticks I don't know how to use." She grinned at him, rising on her tiptoes to brush a kiss against his cheek.

"Oh me either! It looks so pretty though! But I'm sure it'll taste even better than it looks! And all the different types of cakes. I'm kind of glad I didn't eat yet, makes more room for all the good stuff here. Oh, and I promised to send all the leftovers down to the Den, for the Lost Boys."

Kitty did have a very good reason to be hungry, after all, eating for two as she was! And they had had a day that was very emotional, already!

"Definitely forks today," Riku laughed as he grabbed a dinner roll and then waited for Kitty before guiding her up to the head table. He looked back at the buffet. "There will certainly be a lot of food leftover," he guessed. Because they had loads. So the Lost Boys would have lots of good eating.

He helped Kitty to her seat and then took his own, setting his plate down in front of him.

Kitty smiled thankfully when Riku helped her into her chair because there was no way she could maneuver all on her own in her wedding dress. Besides it was nice to be pampered a little.

Yes, definitely forks. I might starve if I tried chopsticks now." She reached for the cutlery, even though she felt like just stuffing her face with all the yummy food that was stacked on her plate.

"I hope they enjoy it, too. They deserve good food. They're still part of my family, too. Once a Lost Boy, always a Lost Boy." She smiled happily. "And I have to be a good example as the big sister, right?"

Ricki was hyper and all over the place. Who knew weddings could be so much fun?! His eyes were on the cupcakes the whole time asking when they were going to do them not really caring about the real food that kept coming out. Ricki was all about food, but even more so about sugar after all.

In fact anytime a guest would pass by the wedding cake he'd clearly point out that if they didn't want theirs he'd take it! He thought the sock monkeys were cute and he and Addy had pointed at them and laughed earlier. It was funny to Ricki because he said his tux was a monkey suit and then to see monkey's on the cake just cinched it for him.

Bouncing over to where he had been told was his seat he smirked and sat down scrunching his nose declaring to everyone in earshot. "Some old lady came up to me and pinched my cheeks...gross!" Old of course to him was people in their 40's and older.

Avery had been working furiously at Riku and Kitty's wedding and reception to get her mind off of less pleasant but unfortunately related things. She was happy, actually, despite all her upsets. The couple was beautiful and the mood of a wedding kind of radiated through the air. She liked seeing people happy and enjoying themselves, celebrating love. Couples like this one reminded her that the fairytale love she believed in was worth it. This was the real deal.

She had done the photography for the wedding party but Avery Darcy was never done when it came to the camera. She snapped pictures of the guests, wanting to make Riku and Kitty a special scrapbook of the day. She did not know either well but it was obvious they adored each other. She got full photographs of the reception, happy to do so. She looked around her for anything or anyone she had missed.

Melody had felt a little awkward in the black suit at first. But then, it wasn't the first time she had worn a suit and she actually kind of liked it! The ceremony had been beautiful and she actually had cried a little too. It was so good to see Riku happy like that and she was truly happy for him.

She had nibbled on a bit of the buffet after it had been opened, but she wasn't feeling particularly hungry. Besides it would be there for the whole day. A smile touched her lips when she saw Avery and she made her way through the crowd to her, tapping on her shoulder. "Hey." she greeted, still a little awkward with the suit and all. She had seen her during the taking of the wedding pictures, since she was in most of them, being a groomswoman and all. But that was the first time she actually had time to speak to her best friend.

Avery was surprised to see Melody, though she had taken several pictures of her in the past couple of hours. Melody just...was a difficult situation. Melody was the one thing Avery thought about, constantly, at least when she wasn't speaking about Sebastian, or Shane and Jax and their idiot situation. Melody was her best friend, so important to her and Avery couldn't believe she had been considering ruining her life just days ago.

"You look so cute," Avery said, trying to keep the topic away from the fact that she felt sick to her stomach nearly constantly. This was a happy, joyful day, all about Riku and Kitty and their wedding. "I absolutely love it."

Melody blushed lightly at that, rubbing over her cheek self-consciously. "Uh well, I guess I'm started a suits look? At least anytime Riku is involved. Last time was for that eighties party at Eden." She laughd softly, reaching for Avery's hand.

"Dance with me? You can pretend I'm your date and I'll try to look manly for you?" she offered with a playful grin. She refused to let the things that hung in the air get between them today. This was a celebration and she would celebrate and be happy, even if it was for a just few hours. "And I'll try not to step on your toes, either."

"It's a good look for you," she said seriously. "Well anything is really." Melody was one of those people that Avery thought was naturally pretty. Maybe some time, when this drama was behind them, she could ask Melody to do some pictures. Either way, she definitely wanted to do some pregnancy photos for her best friend.

Avery smiled at that. "Be my date?" she asked with a nod. "I'd appreciate that a lot." Melody was such an amazing girl. She took her hand, slipping her camera back in her case. She was using her good camera for Riku and Kitty's wedding and had to take care of it.

Melody laughed quietly, shaking her head even as the blush on her cheeks darkeend. "Not really. I could never pull off sexy." She had leaned in, wispering almost conspiratorially, but still with that playful grin on her lips.

Curling her fingers around Avery's hand, she tugged her lightly towards the dancefloor. The bride and groom had already had their first dance and now the wedding guests were mingling and dancing to the music that was played. "I'm not all that good a dancer though, just so you're warned."

Avery shook her head. "Trust me, you do," Avery said. Melody was a very gorgeous woman who just needed some kind of confidence booster. Unfortunately Sebastian was preying on Melody's vulnerability right now. He was using her lack of confidence to keep her thinking she was safe with him and Avery knew it.

Avery twirled around. "Neither am I!" she declared.

Melody laughed and shook her head again. "Even if I could pull it off I wouldn't wear it because I'm too shy." She had never thought of herself as beautiful, or even pretty. She just thought she was pretty normal, average.

She laughed again and twirled Avery again. "Good we're on the same page then!" She was glad she didn't have to wear high heels, otherwise dancing would be really really difficult.

"You shouldn't be shy," Avery said softly, and though she was just playing around with Melody, having fun like usual, she meant her words. Avery had been a very shy young woman and probably still would have been if Cecy had not turned her into a vampire. She did not want Melody to spend the rest of her precious life wasting it on shyness. Sometimes Melody reminded Avery of herself a little too much.

She twirled around. "You're awesome."

"I'm trying, but it's not all that easy." Melody replied, pulling a face that made her look a little like a crazy parrot. But she was laughing a moment later already. She could be very blunt sometimes, blurting out her thoughts without really thinking about it, but she'd never been very confident about herself. And ever since Judah had left..it hadn't gotten really better. More the contrary.

She blushed lightly, but smiled, dipping Avery down in an almost cinematic move, thankful she was so light so it was easy for her to hold her. "So are you, Avs!"

Avery wished that Melody could see how awesome she was, and maybe that would help her build a little more confidence. Her lack of self-confidence was not only a difficult character trait but it made things scarier for them, because a lack of confidence made a person very vulnerable - and easy target for whatever came their way.

She tilted back, surprised she actually had some sense of balance and didn't fall down.

She was having fun.

Melody giggled softly as she helt Avery in the dipped position for a moment, then pulled her up again and into her arms for a quick, tight hugs. Feeling bold, she quickly pressed her lips to Avery's in an innocent peck, smiling brightly.

"I love you, Avery. Lots and lots! And I'm really glad you're here today and that you're my best friend and..okay, I think I'm finished." She couldn't help but laugh again at her own silliness, but she just needed to get that out.

Avery was the teeniest bit surprised by the kiss, because she was not used to Melody being so bold. Once again, Melody was really reminding her of herself. It was the kind of little thing Avery would do to Cecy back in college, then blush and practically die because she initiated a kiss with the woman she considered a goddess at the time.

She blushed, face a little bit red. "You're so sweet Melody," she said. There was a reason she loved this girl so much. She was her best friend in the world, and she had to keep her safe. She could not believe she had been considering abandoning her to Sebastian's hand just earlier in the week. Avery hugged her tight. "I love ya, lots."

Melody was a little surprised of herself, but sometimes there were moments when she just forgot her worries and did what she felt like doing. They were few and far between, but this was one of those.

She blushed a deep crimson, pressing one hand over her mouth to muffle a silly, girlish giggle. She didn't really know why she had done it, it had just seemed the right way to express herself and her emotions for her best friend. She smiled brightly, wrapping her arms around Avery to return the tight hug. "You're the best."

Avery loved moments of boldness - not only in Melody, but in anyone she cared about. She liked to see people break through the barriers that held them back in life and do something special. This moment was very special to Avery. It was the first time in weeks she felt generally happy and at ease. She liked that feeling.

"Nah you," she said honestly. Melody was.

Melody smiled happily and pulled away a little so she could twirl herself around Avery's arm. She was so glad she was here today to enjoy this special day with her friends, even though it hurt a bit too. And it made her miss Judah even more. But she was so very glad for the friends she had here and she refused to let anything dampen her mood today.

"Are you hungry? Wanna go plunder the buffet?"

Avery was more hungry in a vampire way than a human one – but she wasn’t going to say that and further the distance between herself and her best friend in the world. She just wasn’t taking as much care of herself as she ought to have been. “Yeah good plan,” she said as they headed over towards the food. She kept her hand in Melody's, protective and a little possessive at the same time.
