Thread: Kosta and Alec
Who: Kosta St. Clair and Alec Tyson.
When: June 18th. Evening.
Where: Alec's house.
What: Sire and child time.
Rating: TBD.

Kosta snapped his notebook shut. The heavy black book was covered in various stakeboard stickers, and patches of white out with doodles over top. He tossed it down on his bed, and dropped the Bic pen he had been writing with on top before he slid off the bed. Kosta slid a bit too quickly and nearly fell over his own feet. His new speed, strength, reflexes - it was all a lot and he tended to be clumsy because of it.

Catching himself against the wall, he pushed upright and then slipped out of his room. Scuffing his feet against the floor as he walked, the teenaged vampire shuffled down the hall and then down the stairs, dressed in a pair of old, patched jeans and a gray t-shirt. A gray headband encircled his head.

He took a detour to the kitchen and grabbed a bag of blood from the fridge - Alec's mention of it had gotten his hunger up. His fangs dropped, and he bit into the bag like it was a mini sip. Funny thing, he had always liked the red ones. Now, not so much.

"Alec?" he called out as he shuffled from the kitchen and into the den.

Alec was feeling guilty. Yes, he was capable of such things. Alec had recently come into contact with one of his friends from before he was turned, and it had shocked him into a wave of more human feeling. It was not to say that he had not felt guilt for what he had done to the poor teenager before - but there was something much more deep about it now. He really hated that he had condemned him to something he may not have wanted.

Though he did not torture Kosta, maybe it was truly no better than what she had done to him.

The thought was nauseating. "Hey," he said, walking over to the boy. He had been so intrigued by this kid. He had lost it so hard. "Feeling ok?"

"Hey," Kosta said when he came across Alec - or rather, Alec came across him. The word came out a bit muffled because he had the bag of blood between his lips at the moment. Kosta took another suck from the bag and then pulled it out of his mouth.

"I guess. Hungry," he said, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. He may have been a vampire, but he was also a teenager.

"This is still weird." He waggled the bag of blood. It was delicious, and he wanted to drink a dozen of them, but at the same time, it was weird.

"It most definitely always is a little weird," Alec said, softly. Sometimes his patterns of speech betrayed that he was ninety three, but really he easily passed as a boy not much older than Kosta was. It was so strange the way these things worked. He had to admit to it. "It'll ease up as you get older though, for sure."

He smiled some. There was definitely a childlike charm to this one. That was probably what he had liked so much.

"Was your mother alright with you coming here?" He could not imagine it but it was probably needed for the poor dear's safety.

"I'm a vegetarian," Kosta said with a little noise as he eyes the blood - and then went right back to drinking it. That was one of the things that troubled him. But he couldn't stop sucking it back like he had just run a marathon in the desert and this was water.

"I don't think she was happy, but she understood." Kosta didn't want to end up attacking her, and she didn't want him to do anything he'd feel guilty about later.

"I'll have to meet her one day," he said, finding that to be one of the most awkward things he had ever said. Oh hey, I turned your son into an undead creature who will never grow or age. My bad. Alec winced a little bit, unable to deny that wasn't the best thought he had ever had but he hated the idea of being distrusted.

"A vegetarian, hmm?" He added. "Well I guess you don't have to eat any animals at least...unless you count the biggest one around."

Alec was feeling very shifty, uncomfortable but he was trying.

Yeah." Kosta rubbed his fingers against the top of his head. "Probably would be a good idea. She'd like that." His mother was worried, he knew it. Concerned about what had happened to her son, who he was staying with - everything.

"They kind of count." Blood didn't kill - didn't have to kill at least - but it was still... not the same as drinking milk or eating cheese. People needed their blood! It was body tissue.

"Um. Let's go sit down?" he suggested, and shuffled over to flop down on the couch.

Alec could not imagine the woman's horror and honestly it made him nauseous and guilty to even think about what he had caused her. He had not been in his right mind when he turned Kosta but be could at least be civil and he was charming to most humans even without trying. "I'll do that then," he said softly. He smiled awkwardly and followed him to sit down. "Yeah I suppose people do count as animals. I'm...sorry."

For more things that one really.

"How is school?" He knew that it must be difficult to balance teenage life with what he was now.

Kosta shrugged a little bit as he sat down on the couch and curled his legs up beside him, slouching and making himself comfortable, the blood bag dangling from his lips all the while, until he tugged it free.

"Dunno. I mean, they didn't make me go back, just for exams - instead, they sent the exams home." Turned into a vampire and he still had to write exams! But that was better than failing and having to repeat his Junior Year. Once was enough for him.

Alec had never really finished high school, though he had the faked documents. "At least you could complete the year," he said. "Itll be a challenge I have to admit but it's good for you. You need to let time matter for as long as it can." Alec was brought back to the conversation he and Tyler had about time not meaning that much anymore now that they were both almost a century old.

"Kinda wish I had the opportunity. Orphanage I grew up in kinda taught us but I didn't finish the high school levels. Just read a lot..."

"Yeah. And I guess I get the summer to deal with things," Kosta said another little roll of his shoulders. The timing could have been a lot worse. He had been thinking a lot about time. About how much time he suddenly had, in theory. It was... shocking. Hard to swallow. A bit frightening, with the knowledge that people would die and he would live and live and live.

"You could probably go back. Well, do your GED."

Alec was starting to feel like he was going to be sick. Would he have done this to his own sister? No. He wouldn't have. There was no way he would put another living creature through this. What was wrong with him? He panicked, quietly. "I'm...sorry things are so tough," he said softly, feeling like his head was not all his. Sometimes he wondered if that woman had messed something up in his head because sometimes he felt like he was going insane.

"I dunno," he said smiling. "I got the papers. And I'm sort of ninety-three years old."

Alec had thought about going to the University and taking some classes. It might have been encouraging some activity in his head. Maybe after the babies in town were born.

It was strange to have Alec apologizing to him like that, and he frowned a little bit, almost feeling guilty himself! He had always been a peaceful sort, and didn't like to cause strife.

"Well... I guess things won't always be so hard?" he said as he sucked the last blood from the bag, the plastic crumpling up. He set it on the coffee table.

"Never too old, isn't that what they say?"

Alec was just confused to be honest. He had never really thought about the consequences of his actions but now he was thinking, heavily. "I don't think they will be," he said. "Hopefully you'll come to enjoy your life." He was sure there must have been a tad bit of happiness in his family that he would be able to make more of himself.

"That is true," he said agreeing. "I'm going to wait until the babies are born. I'm doing some work for the Council, keeping after the young ladies and their babies in town." Alec had always been close to kids. Even though he never was able to have children of his own, he had been a big brother.

"I hope so." Kosta didn't want to be bummed out over his life forever. Especially since forever was a long time. He liked liking life. Enjoying himself. The beauty and wonder of the world.

"You're having babies?!" he blurted out before his brain caught up with him and he realized that Alec was talking about all the women who were becoming pregnant. Right. Those babies. Vampires didn't have babies. "Right. Oh, right. Um. Yeah, that's a good idea. That's... good of you."

Alec really hoped that Kosta could begin to enjoy what he had. Despite the things about their lifestyle that were hard, it was beautiful to not be operating on borrowed time. He chuckled when he heard the boy speak. That was an amusing thought. "Yes, I offered what help I can. I would hate for some of those poor girls to be put at risk because of their state."

It reminded Alec of his sister so much, that he could not help offer. "A little more rewarding than bartending to be honest." Alec liked bartending at the Black Lion but that was not all he could do with himself.

"That would suck," Kosta agreed with a bobbing nod of his head. Flicking a hand up to get hair out of his face. They were of like mind on that at least - babies didn't deserve to be hurt. Or their mothers. Of course Kosta took it further, and didn't think that anyone deserved to be hurt.

"Yeah, that's true. Although bartending seems like it would be fun. All those drinks."

Alec was surprisingly pretty nonviolent himself. He had been hurt too deeply by his sire to believe in violence by any means. He supported the things the Council did and all but he wasn't going to be enacting any violence himself, unless he felt someone was being threatened. He was pretty peaceful and nonviolent because there was no reason not to.

"I like to see people," he said honestly. "It's really weird just kind of watching. And yes, I'm aware that made me seem a little bit creepy. Yet, there's a lot to look.'

"People watching can be fun," Kosta said. "It's not creepy. Well, unless you start following them around." Then it slipped into stalker mode!

"How come you changed me?" he blurted out suddenly, which was something he had been wondering. He's freaked out about that at first, but they hadn't sat and had an actual conversation about it.

Alec laughed a little bit. "Well I haven't turned into a stalker, just yet, so you don't have to worry." Alec was kind of a stalker type sometimes but he had yet to violate anyone's privacy really. He was just very interested in the things he saw going on around him. This place was so incredibly strange.

"I..."

That was the question that Alec had not wanted to answer. He did not know why he had chosen to turn this young man, but it had happened. It didn't even feel like a conscious choice. He had gone way too far feeding off of him and the decision didn't even really click until it was already being made. He did not want him to die, he wanted to change him. It was scary.

"It's so hard to describe why," he admitted, not looking at the boy. "I lost myself and I didn't want you dead. You deserved more."

It was hard to even remember that night, when it had happened. It was like a photo album with pictures missing, so that the sequence didn't quite make sense. He remembered being bitten, and remembered fading out and then... and then there were snatches of fangs and blood and that copper penny taste and then waking up a vampire.

"I wouldn't want to be dead, either." He felt like his life had just started, and wouldn't have wanted it to end.

"I didn't mean to do it without your consent," Alec said and there was a distinct tone of apology. "I...always told myself that if I ever sired a vampire, it would be out of their consent. I was turned myself without consent and that was horrible." Alec had never wanted to give that to another person. The horror and helplessness of being a vampire.

"I do apologize, but I did want you alive.'

Kosta rubbed the tip of his finger along the arm of the sofa. "I guess.. I don't know." He didn't feel good about what had happened but Alec seemed... nice. Not like he had first thought. Not cruel and thoughtless. He had Changed him, yes, but he hadn't been otherwise cruel. He let him live with him, kept blood stocked in the house.

"I guess. I can forgive you." He couldn't say it was alright, not yet anyway. But he wasn't mad.

He nodded. "Thank you," he said. "It means a lot to me." Maybe one day Alec would be able to tell him the circumstances of his own changing. He would never forget about the way she had treated him. She had treated him as a pet of some kind, a science experiment. It would be something Alec would never forgive her for.

He had always thought she was dead, but she wasn't.

"I...I know it's frustrating," he admitted. "But it'll get better fast."

"You're welcome." Kosta didn't feel as though he had done much, but it was what he could do for the time being. He still had a lot to deal with. Still had to come to grips with this whole vampire thing. Blood. Death. Living forever.

"I hope. Cause I don't want to have to avoid my Mom forever. And my friends." Since his friends were all human and it was akward being around them and wanting to have a bite!

He smiled very lightly. There was a lot to deal with but he imagined that his child could do it. "I know," he said very softly. "You'll be able to handle humans better."

He smiled a little more as he thought about it. "I'll talk to your mother as well. I think it'll put her mind at ease a little more." Alec had gone against the rules and regulations of his new residence so he needed to be cautious.

"Good." Kosta was glad for the encouragement. He didn't really believe it, but that could change. Everything seemed worse when it was happening.

"Probably. She probably will have a million questions for you though, so be warned against that." Mothers were like that.

"It's alright. I can handle people well." Alec was very well skilled with people, especially women. He had managed to figure out talking people in circles. He was good at helping them understand things. Yeah, he could handle Kosta's mother at least in a roundabout sort of way. He would do fine. He was prepared.

"It's a mom thing, it'll be ok.'

"You haven't met my Mom," Kosta said, although didn't everyone say that about their mothers? Probably, but then Mothers were a special case.

Alec smiled a little bit. Family seemed to be a topic that made the vampire happy. He was very close to his own before his father passed away and his mother had been forced to orphan her two children. "I'm sure that I can manage your mother," he said honestly. "I'm pretty decent at speaking to people. I have had experience."

Alec leaned back against the couch, unbelievably tired lately. He was keeping up a busy schedule. This town was too small for it's own good. It was a wonder that more of the humans trapped to the town didn't lose their mind and just off themselves. He could leave and he felt a bit trapped in the tight air and old friends.

"Experience talking to mothers, or mothers of people you've changed?" Kosta asked, with curiosity more than anything. Had Alec changed other people? Many? When? Where? Kosta wondered if he had vampire siblings out there.

"Did you change a lot of people?" He knew Alec was old. Well, old to him, like a century, which was pretty much ancient.

"Oh no, I...I'm just very good with people, especially those of an older generation than the current." Alec was used to the manners of times long before and he was good with people who were used to those mannerisms or similiar from parents, maybe grandparents. It made him laugh to think that he could be someone's grandfather, great-grandfather by now. Of course, at age ninety-three it was highly more likely that he would have been dead if that psychotic bitch hadn't ended him.

But enough about her, she was always on his mind these days.

"I haven't...changed anyone honestly," he said. "I never considered it...because of how I was changed. "

"Well it's no wonder," Kosta said, thinking along the same lines, and giving a soft little noise of amusement. "You're old enough to be my Mom's grandfather or something." Which was weird to think. Alec didn't look much older than he was. And he didn't act like an old man. But he was! Comparatively.

"Oh. Huh. Well, I guess that's good?" That Alec wasn't the type to run around and turn people willy nilly. It did make him feel sort of special.

Alec nodded very seriously. "I hate to admit it, but yes I am." Alec had been around a lot longer than any of the humans in Shadow Falls could hope to be. Normally it didn't bother him but lately he had been thinking about matters of mortality, when reminders of his human life came back to him in an epic and loud form.

"It...might be," he said. "I really regret turning you without your consent. I will tell you that."

Alec did not feel that he was any better than the psychopath who turned him, even though he would never intentionally torture his child. That was the mark of the madwoman.
