Rɪғᴛ is a panfandom literature-based game. As long as the creator supports fanfiction, any printed works are on the table. The world is your oyster! There is also opportunity for interesting Native human characters and Native witches, who have recently come out of hiding in order to volunteer to help investigate the Rift.
Rɪғᴛ will be filled with plot twists and complex characters and endless opportunities, but your help is needed to make that happen! Rift is currently an open game seeking motivated, active players. Please check out the World & Lore page (it's not as long as it looks, I promise) and the Rules & FAQs page (also not as long as it looks) and see if Rift could be a good fit for you.
Opening September 10, 2016
Something has happened in New York City. Nobody knows entirely what happened or why, but the famous city, home to the of the four largest book publishers in the world, has experienced a Rift. On May 1, 2016, a rift tore between our world and another. Characters from literary works throughout time began appearing in Central Park, pulled out of their worlds at seeming random.
Quickly, a team was assembled to investigate. The Department of Homeland Security contracted with a private security firm to form the Rift Security Taskforce, or RST. The first thing RST did was collect the individuals that came through in order to investigate. They were checked out by doctors and scientists, and cleared as healthy, normal human beings.
After a few weeks, with more Rifters appearing in the meantime, a building was purchased by RST that was going to be a new apartment building. They claimed the entire building for the arrivals and began assigning apartments in July. (Up until then the arrivals were assigned to hotel rooms out starting with generous members of RST or their families and friends.) The Rifters had the option to turn down RST assistance, but few did, and they were given a monthly stipend of cash to help get settled, with the expectation that they'd be supporting themselves after six months.
Something else happened in the course of those few months. In what's been being called The Reveal, the main coven of witches in the city came out and volunteered their assistance in researching the Rift. At first, RST tried to hide their existence, but it wasn't long before the public got wind of it. The source of the leak of that information has never been found.
In many ways, it feels like things are finally settling down, the Rift Security Taskforce getting the Rifters settled in. However, there's also growing unease. More people are arriving all the time, and not all of them are friendly or safe individuals. Many of the New Yorkers are sympathetic and want to help the lost newcomers, but there's a rapidly-growing faction of Natives that don't approve of the government's help or the fact that they've been allowed to stay. They cite the fact that taxpayer money is now being used to support every new arrival and warn of the dangers of allowing potentially dangerous people to roam free. There are also fears from witches and scientists alike that allowing this free flow of energy between multiple universes for a prolonged amount of time could have unforeseen consequences.
A fragile peace is currently holding, but who knows who or what will tip the scales.
