The people of Osthollow mourned greatly when Matthias Williamson, their greatest king, passed on. He lived many years, but none of his great doings would show through his son and successor, Jordan Williamson. Jordan was a young man in his early twenties who cared little about politics and was greedy with power. In just as little as a year, Osthollow became stricken with famine, poverty and death. People were miserable but King Jordan was happy in his wealth and cared little for his citizens. He became the worst king to ever take the throne and the people became too disgusted by his reign to stand idle. Nobles, commoners and people from all walks of life desired an end to the reign of King Jordan. Several who faced enough pain and loss came together to form a plan of King Jordan's end. They attempted to poison the king and, despite how carefully planned out things were, it still failed. The poison was never consumed by the king because someone snitched. All who were in on the plan were sentenced to death, all but the snitch who was sent into exile. Fearing death, those who were guilty of attempted murder fled the kingdom and found sanctuary in Belwyn. Belwyn was a town along the coast of a new kingdom, one that was far away from the chaos of Osthollow. It is Belwyn that has become a home to those who were found guilty, a place where new life could be written and miseries could be forgotten. But is it so easy to forget and move on? |
