Fifteen years ago a single Warden changed the tide of fate, ending the fifth Blight before it hardly began.
Five years ago a seed of unrest was sown in the Free Marches when the Circle of Magi rebelled against the dominant rule of the Templars and the Chantry. Slowly it spread outwards, inspiring other mages to rise against their jailers and protectors. There are murmurings that the Chantry's power is growing weak.
To the common folk the world seems unsafe and confusing; some sympathize with the plight of the mages, while others fear them and the damage their magic could do. There is talk of an Exalted March, whispers of what the Divine in Orlais might do to reclaim control over mages across Thedas, to strengthen the Chantry's hold once again.
But nothing seems sure, not the future, not who is enemy or friend.
The good people of Ferelden were still rebuilding their homes after the last Blight, when rumours came in 9:45 of a new Blight. Grey Wardens were sent out and searched the land, hunting for the roots of the rumours. They found hordes of darkspawn to prove it, but little else.
The attacks stopped as suddenly as they had begun, the Wardens returning to their base. But the rumour of darkspawn unrest stayed, mingling with the others. In the wake of the collapse of many Circles, and wary of a possible war, some of those in Thedas understand that now is the time to be united. Will the Wardens help bring people together where now only distrust breeds?
