Day 5

[info]inpoormeritmod
Day 5

Moon Phase
Full Moon

Storyline
At midnight (the night of Day 4), Eden, Gwyn, and Ben begin to undergo a terrible transformation. Bones shift and audibly break as the body painfully mutate into animals: a panther, a snake, and a wolf, respectively.

Eden and Ben will either escape into the night as larger versions of their designated animals, or perhaps they will remain trapped inside their residences, perhaps lingering to dig into the refrigerator or the cupboards. Waking up in the morning, they will have only hazy memories of their night as animals -- and if they didn't wake up naked with their bodies aching, perhaps in the middle of the woods, they might put the strange encounter down as a dream. Fortunately, if they escaped their quarters, their noses will guide them back to town...

Gwyn suffers an entirely different fate. Her transformation into a were-snake was aborted partway through, perhaps her body's immune system attempting one last time to fight the wereism bacteria in her system. The night for her is a long one as her body fights with itself. Shortly before dawn, the pain coarsing through her system finally fades, allowing her to drift into an exhausted sleep. When she awakens, she is something new: half snake, half woman.

Outside, it's another beautiful day. As night settles over the island, the full moon will rise, large and lovely. Although the characters do not realize it, its tranquil perfection stands in eerie contrast to the monsters it will create.

At approximately 5:00 in the evening, everyone receives another messenger from the Commissioner -- and this time, it's a warning.

Mod Notes
Welcome our were-creatures and half-breeds to the Island, everybody! The fun and games are officially over. Characters who would like to assume that Drina, too, was meant to be a victim of wereism may now do so. Obviously, something went horribly wrong with her transformation...

Cath and Eden will need to role-play the transformation to assure that Cath survives. Fortunately, he's only dealing with a panther..whose saliva, nonetheless, carries the bacteria. If bitten, Cath's immune system will attempt to fight off the bacteria, which may present as a cold or as something more serious. Your choice!

I would appreciate some sort of description -- scene, email or otherwise -- for Gwyn's new form. I didn't want to assume anything, as I thought you might have an idea in your head for what she will turn out like.

For any questions about the transformation process, I will refer all of you to the recently posted description in the Supernaturals section of the site. The presented information is up for debate and comment...but this will get us started, anyway.

Day 4

[info]inpoormeritmod
Day 4

Storyline
The rainclouds finally reached the Island at approximately 2:00 AM. Heavy rain and gusts of wind batter the island, accompanied by the crashing of thunder and the illumination of lightning. Citizens in the area of Golf Block heard a very different sort of crash shortly after the storm began, the result of which becomes clear by morning light.

Waking up, everyone will find a new message from the Commissioner awaiting their attention.

By morning, the storm has largely ended. A few showers of warm rain continue to fall, but the dark clouds soon part to allow rays of sunshine to fall on the broken remains of Golf-2, which was previously inhabited by Drina. Most noticable is the shattered glass outside the window, accompanied by a broken windowframe. Inside, the home is in pieces: furniture is broken, clothes are torn apart, and large scratches mark the home in various places. Even those without any experience in tracking will be unable to miss the last piece of evidence left in the mud: a single set of large, canine footprints lead away from the home.

Eden, Ben, and Gwyn awaken in the morning feeling well-rested. Their sleep was entirely undisturbed. Yet, each feels a little different. Eden's ears are more sensitive today, and although the crashing of the storm did not bother her during the night, she will have to learn to cope with her strange ability to hear sounds as soft as passing footfalls outside her home. For Ben, his nose has improved; from the moment his eyes open, he is awash in a bewildering number of new scents -- from people, from the wildlife, and from the various foods in the Island's kitchen. Finally, Gwyn will experience, perhaps, the strangest transformation of all: like Ben, her sense of smell has improved -- although, not with her nose. Throughout the day, Gwyn will discover that her tongue is now capable of capturing scents, which her brain processes as something similar to taste. Gwyn's bizarre transformation requires her to open her mouth to smell in this way, but that is perhaps for the better: not all scents are good, after all.

The storm is completely gone by midday, and, although cooler than the balmy weather the citizens of the Island have become accustomed to, it is, nevertheless, still a beautiful day.

Day 3

[info]inpoormeritmod
Day 3

Storyline
For many of the characters, Day 3 begins the same as Day 2: with a beautiful, sunny morning. Wilderness-savvy characters will be happy to note that there are no fresh tracks from wolves this morning!

For Deirdre, Drina, Eden, and Ben however, morning comes too soon. All four characters feel as though they slept poorly, and, thinking back, each remembers experiencing terrible dreams. Each recalls the glare of bright lights obscuring their vision, the sharp pinch of a needle in their arm, and more pain from their shoulderblade. If characters investigate the dreamed injuries, they will find light bruising on their arm and a patch of skin missing from their shoulder. Although only painful to the touch, the missing piece of skin appears to be a perfect square: 1 cm x 1 cm. The cut itself is not deep and is covered with a plain band-aid.

Any characters who were up late do not recall hearing or seeing anything in the locations near Deirdre, Drina, Eden's, and Ben's blocks.

For King, morning brings a surprise: a blonde woman sitting on the end of his bed. Although her smile is soft and dreamy, her gaze on him is intent, and it is clear she has been watching him for some time. Strangely, she seems to be weightless and entirely insubstancial. On closer examination, King can even make out the faint outline of his bedroom furniture behind her.

Shortly before dusk, stormclouds appear on the horizon, although they do not reach the island before dark.

DAY 2

Storyline
Day 2 on the Island begins in much the same way as Day 1 - with a beautiful morning breeze and birds singing. This morning, there is no message from the Commissioner, and everybody is on their own for breakfast.

King and Cooper did discover something on their late night ramble in the woods...and something discovered them. Throughout the night, both felt as though they were being watched. Shortly after 10 PM, the pair stumbled into an old graveyard. By moonlight, they were not able to see any names, but they were able to see that most of the wooden markers had been there quite some time - but obviously not long enough to rot away altogether. Before they could do any more exploring, a heavy fog began to roll in - along with the nearing calls of wolves.

King and Coop made it back to town safely, but they, along with others awake late and light sleepers will have noticed the impossibly large wolves that followed them into town. After scratching at a few doors and sniffing around, the wolves retreated peacefully back into the woods. Witnesses and the tracks left behind in the morning indicate that the wolves were about six inches taller than most breeds, with longer gaits. The wolves were all black.

Mod Notes
Congratulations, King! You're now haunted. Your character will experience odd things throughout the day - footsteps, a disembodied laugh, missing items...

Characters wishing to explore the graveyard will find it as described. The markers are handmade wooden crosses, and only a few bear names. There are no dates. Further in from the graves, characters will find a burnt out church.

There is more exploring to be done on Day 2!

Day One

[info]inpoormeritmod
Storyline
All characters awaken this morning in their new homes feeling a little fuzzy or light-headed with a strange coppery taste in their mouths. These affects will last only as long as the character remains in bed: as they wake up and move around, the circulation of blood helps to diminish these side effects until they are gone altogether.

Characters are still wearing the same clothes they wore when abducted. All weapons, electronics (ie, cell phones or cameras), purses, and backpacks have been removed, but characters will still find their spare change and keys in their pockets.

The first thing each character sees upon awakening is a netbook, logged into the Island's Network and displaying a welcome message from the Commissioner.

Each residence is equipped and furnished like a small but modern apartment with an eat-in kitchen, a small living area, a modern bathroom, and a comfortable bedroom. Characters will notice that a few personal items are littered throughout the home: the character will find his or her favorite outfits in the closet; a cherished painting or photo may be on the wall; and a favorite book or DVD may be lying on a shelf. All items and pieces of clothing were searched thoroughly, and once again, characters will find no weapons or electronics.

Outside, the weather is a beautiful 82 degrees. The sun is shining and a variety of songbirds are singing. Once outside, characters will notice that each occupied residence has a nameplate with name(s) of the residents within. Characters familiar with military or political radio signs and labels will notice that the neighborhoods are based on NATO radio codes.

The town itself looks as though its previous residents have simply vanished. In the center of town, characters will find a pub, a library, a gym, a laundromat, a tiny church, a hardware store, a grocery store, and a combined city hall and police station. All of these are functioning and feature everything typical in a small town -- except for people, files, or any indication of the city or its history. All of the buildings are open and are stocked with fresh food. Once again, there are no weapons or electronics available.

Notes
Today will primarily be a day of exploration and decision-making for the characters. There is plenty to do and see, so feel free to go crazy with your characters. Descriptions of the colors and lay-outs of your character's abode are up to you, as well as the small personal items of "comfort." Obviously, the people who brought them here aren't going to allow weapons, cell phones, or anything like that...yet.

The pub to which the Commissioner refers is a large room built for entertaining. There is a stage and a full kitchen, as well as a complete bar. A hot breakfast is waiting for the characters in a large buffet cart and features a variety of American products: eggs, bacon, sausages, hot cakes, and so on. For those wishing to make their own breakfasts, the grill is still hot, and the refrigerator is well-stocked with a variety of products.

If you have any questions regarding your character's exploration of the Island or what your character has in his or her possession, you can contact Ivory in all of the usual ways or reply to this post.
