Ajuta!
WHO: Mina & Open
WHERE: Near the ocean
WHEN: Late Afternoon

To be honest, if someone didn't get Mina up? She didn't wake up until the sun was high in the sky and the clock struck around noon. It didn't matter what country she was in, that was just how her body worked. So Mina had only gotten up a few hours ago and read the message... So this wasn't about ransom apparently. She wasn't sure of that was a relief or worse. It was all so damned confusing to her and she just didn't know what she was supposed to do in a situation like this.

She'd taken a moment to clean up and get dressed in a black pantsuit with a nice white shirt as she was bent on looking her best in this moment of horribleness and had ignored her jeans. She had found a worn out teddy bear on her nightstand and a couple of other personal objects that made her wonder just how long these people had been planning for whatever they had decided to do with her. And with the others that were indicated in the Commissioner's note.

Mina decided to do the only thing she could think of - she went for a walk which was what had gotten her in this trouble in the first place. She had grabbed an apple out of her fridge and went walking. That was how she ended up down by the water on what appeared to be some kind of pier or viewing area. With no one else about, she was talking to herself in the language her brain was still kind of defaulted to at the moment - Romanian, "Bine, eu sunt pe o insulă. Noi nu putem scăpa. Răpitorii mele nu s-au identificat în sine şi a susţinut nici un scop. Noi suntem dat de dracu. Drăguţ."

((ooc: Title - Help!
"Okay, I'm on an island. We can't escape. My captors have not identified themselves and claimed no purpose. We are fucked. Lovely."))

Gor whirled when he heard a voice, momentarily forgetting about the devilish little crab whose home he had just assaulted. Fortunately, Gor's battered tennis shoes took the brunt of the assult this time, and the little crab had no choice but to drag itself away from the giant, feeling terribly successful, if it did say so itself.

Gor had not been prepared for the voice. He wasn't sure the woman had spoken in English, but, whatever she had said, he had missed it. Summoning up his courage, he sid, "Wh-what?"

He wasn't the most polite boy -- but, certainly, his utter inexperience with social interactions played a large part in that.

She crossed one arm in front of her, resting her elbow on the other so her apple was still free for eating. Alright - she needed to switch languages. Mina sighed a little, "Who are you and what are you doing?" She sounded more than a little annoyed with him. And fuck, standing in the sand in heels sucked. Sand was sneaking in everywhere and she was kind of technically sinking a bit.

It didn't matter to her whether he was polite or not. And she didn't even notice the victorious little crab who had somehow defeated a shoe. And a boy.

Gor's voice caught in his throat. He didn't have to think Mina was somebody important to be intimidated by her -- she was doing well by herself with her disapproving look and her...

Well.

Gor swallowed quite visibly. "A-a-a..." He wasn't even sure what it had been, to tell the truth. "...Crab. Th-thing." He held up his hand to show her where the crab had snagged him with its claws. Although not bleeding, his finger was visibly red. "An-and I'm G-Gor."

Oh good Christ. A stutterer. That meant she had to be patient. Clearly shy as well. The corners of her mouth turned down in a frown as she listened and watch him show off the clawed finger. "Quit playing with the wild life. And what the hell kind of name is Gor?" She didn't offer her own name just yet. Clearly though he was not a tabloid reader and thank God for that.

Gor honestly hadn't known it was wildlife until it pinched him. Explaining that would have taken much more courage than the poor boy possessed, however, so he made due with addressing the second question.

"It's sh-short for Gri-grigory. W-William-s-son." Why had his parents given him such a horrifically long name anyway? It was as though they were in on the cosmic joke to destroy him and his life. He closed his eyes and tried to pretend she weren't there -- and it almost worked. "Grigory. W-Williamson."

Saying it with so little stutter was an accomplishment itself.

That didn't matter in Mina's mind. He shouldn't play with things that he didn't know a damn thing about. That was why you'd never see her playing with wild anything unless she knew it was relatively harmless. Fruit bats for example were relatively harmless. "Christ... Grigory? I think I have an ancestor with that name. I didn't realize it was still in use." Mina scrunched up her nose, "What the fuck were your parents thinking?"

A rather apt question, actually... His shoulders lifted into a shrug that was almost theatrical in its presentation. "M-my p-parents suck," he agreed with a miserable expression. She was only restating everything he already knew about his life, thank you very much.

"If th-this is-is y-your be-each, I c-c-can go." Perhaps it wasn't the best reasoning in the world, but Gor hoped very much she would dismiss him. He couldn't even bring himself to walk away from a conversation, as miserable as he was.

She made a sound like she agreed and turned away from him a bit to face the ocean. No wonder he stuttered if his parents were awful. They probably beat the crap out of him or something from the way he was acting. She wouldn't be surprised. Assuming he was lower class than herself, they were always ones for physical torment outside of the psychological. Or alongside.

"No, it's not my beach. I know my beaches like the back of my damned hand and this isn't one of them," that made her frown and tighten her arms around herself a little more. "I don't have any clue where we really are... You're the only person I've seen so far."

Gor suddenly realized that this girl was every bit as lost as he was -- and the fact had to literally smack him in the face. He felt a little bad for her, all at once -- still frightened, but also a little bad, because from the way she was acting, she had never been on unsure ground before in her life.

"I...I was j-just g-going to d-do a sur--a survey. Of everything. A-assu-uming everyth-thing is in i-it's n-natural ha-habitat, we-we c-can de-determine wh-where w-we a-are by th-the r-r-rare p-plants and an-animals. O-or by th-the a-a-absence of co-common ones."

That had been exhausting to say, and with all his stuttering, he wasn't even sure it had all come out correctly.

Mina didn't need anyone to feel bad for her. She'd deal with it like she dealt with everything else. It wasn't the first time she'd been lost. She'd been lost when she had been twelve and her mother vanished. She made it through that and she'd make it through this as unscathed as humanly possible. Mina would survive.

Arching an eyebrow, she took a minute to process what exactly the kid had said and once she got past the stuttering, it made a little sense. Except... "Unless this island is man-made and all the flora and fauna is imported." Which was entirely possible. People were building islands all the time anymore. It was stupid and frivolous.

"M-maybe," Gor answered in agreement with one of those large shrugs again. It would only make sense. If he were going to kidnap people, he would do it on an island that no one would stumble onto.

"B-but i-it's worth a tr-try. I-it's b-better than d-doing n-nothing, ri-right?" At least it was something pro-active, if not especially helpful at the moment. Knowing where they were would not help them much in the long run if they couldn't act on the knowledge. But it was something to cling to...

Of course she was fairly certain there were records about man-made islands but she couldn't be sure. Her father had offered to get her one for her birthday once but she'd flat out turned him down. No thanks. She traveled enough as it was. Mina shrugged her shoulders, glancing back at Gor, "What's the point? Who are you going to tell when you've figured out where we are? Who are you expecting to come swoop down and rescue us? Might as well just pretend this is a vacation until we're horribly mutilated in some reenactment of Saw whatever the fuck number we're on now."

"I'm bored," Gor answered, the words surfacing in an entirely un-Gor like manner. There was not even a quiver -- just a sense of confusion, as though this information were so perfectly obvious even she should have known it.

And then the stuttering came back. "Y-you d-don't look l-like y-you would wa-want to-to play D&D."

Whoa. That was like a whole sudden change in tone and now Mina wondered exactly what she was dealing with in this kid. Split personalities? Possible. The change was just so sudden. It was enough that Mina felt she had to take a step away from him just in case and did just that. But then it all sort of change and she burst out laughing. Her? Play D&D? Yeah right. "Please! Like I would ever touch anything related to D&D! God, how old are you anyway?"

His age was irrelevant -- after all, one's geek license had no expiration date. The fact of the matter was, drop-dead gorgeous girls never played D&D. Not in real life, anyway.

Gor had pretty much been expecting the reaction. His head dropped, partly hiding the sheepish grin that had appeared at her response. "Y-Yeah. I-I kn-knew you w-would say-say that. I-I c-couldn't ru-run anyway. W-with the st-stutter."

Oh, his age was entirely relevant. She needed to know, wanted to know and she was going to know if she had to beat it out of him. Then go find that crab and stick it down his damned pants.

Mina arched an eyebrow. That had completely confused her and she had no idea what he meant. She understood what he had said if just knowing the words was understanding. Unfortunately, the meaning got lost and all she could do was stare at him and ask, "... What?"

Gor blinked at her a few times, almost as confused as she was. If she had understood his explanation of what he was doing out on the beach, then surely she should have understood what he had just said.

What had he just said? After giving it some thought, it suddenly dawned on him, and he gave her a very sheepish look. From his expression, he was wretchedly embarrassed by the mistake.

"S-sorry. It-it w-would be h-hard to p-play."

It wasn't that he had made a mistake... It was just that she couldn't follow his train of thought at all. It was like it had derailed but slide down the tracks in an effort to keep going. "Uh... right. Well anyhow, I'm going to go back to where the sand isn't so I can stop sinking." She sort of saluted him and started back up towards solid ground. Mina shook her head a little. Kids. So confusing. God, when had she gotten that old?
