Who: Cathair and Eden
Where: Uniform - 1
When: Sunset
Warning: NSFW

Cathair was mindful to be to Eden's cottage before the sun went down. Besides not wanting to deal with the bloody wargs if they returned with only a cobbled together slingshot and a few kitchen knives as weapons, there was always the possibility they'd take her again as soon as night fell. Not that he expected to be able to stop it from happening again. But he'd try.

He'd stopped by the pub where the lady who saw fit too feed them once a day had set herself up. She'd of course read the journal entries and asked him if he was going to see Eden. Never one for letting others in on his business, still he really couldn't deny it and endured the knowing look the Amazonian woman gave him as she handed him a large wrapped up plate to go with the overloaded one he already had to share with Eden.

Now he had food, a few types of alcohol and whatever Belle had decided to set aside for Eden. Most likely the apple pie she'd talked about. Looked like she'd sent about half the bloody thing by the side of the bulge under the wrapping.

Freeing up one hand enough to know, he waited for Eden to answer.

Cathair was far from well traveled and he still didn't understand the American love affair with foreigners. Must be a cultural thing.

He shrugged. "I grew up in Derry City," he told her, matching her unnecessary information for unnecessary information. "University city. My father's a professor. Travels all over Europe and the UK lecturing about Irish history." More information that wasn't necessary. But talking about anything else but why they were here would be a pleasant change for them all.

He scoffed. "My mother would have turned over in her grave, rose up and beat me bloody if I'd left a lady turned out like that, no matter what she'd done to me. And she'd probably scold me for leaving my guard down like that in the first place. Mam was a bit hard. She grew up in the organization, back before the ceasefires and treaties. She and Granddad made certain I was groomed properly, even though I was likely the last boy anyone'd suspect as being a leader in the cause."

It really had to be and it was a silly cultural thing at that but that was entirely beside the point. It was likely the same in other countries - people thinking Americans were something special... Psh.

It really was more information than she needed but she filed it away for interesting tidbits about Cathair. He was the educated sort - she knew that, but she just didn't know it was a family thing. Honestly, Eden felt a little inadequate. Everything she'd ever learned had come from experience, not books, and that probably gave her a far narrower mindset.

"Well, those are the best types to be the leader, hm? Or even in the cause. I don't think anyone looked at me and said "Future pirate-slash-terrorist". More like "coal-miner's daughter forever"." She really did not want to talk about her family though as she hadn't spoken to them in ages and honestly didn't know if they were alive or dead. That feeling was definitely in the air and she focused on eating as quickly as possible like maybe the food would disappear if she didn't.

Considering what she'd survived and done, she had no reason to feel inadequate. For all his education, he hadn't done a bloody useful thing with any of it.

"The sort who don't want to or the sort who plan before they do things?" he asked wryly. He shrugged. "Saints, at this point, going back to my shop and never picking up a weapon again sounds like paradise."

Cathair frowned as Eden began to concentrate on her food, eating quickly and not looking at him. It made him wonder what he'd said. Grabbing one of the bottles, he wrenched off the lid and took a long drink, then offered it to her.

"I came over to help make you feel better, not upset you more," he reminded her. "Feel free to tell me to shut up if say something idiotic."

"The sort who plan. So sorry if you didn't want to," she rolled her eyes a little but was smiling. He kind of exuded that natural leadership ability and she was willing to follow.

She snorted a little as she accepted the bottom from him after having grabbed a paper towel to wipe her fingers off. No sense in leaving the bottle greasy right? "It's not you. I just... kind of screwed up a lot of things and thinking about family just reminds me of it. So I'd rather not, hm?" With that, she took a long drink from the bottle with barely a reaction and handed it back to him.

Cathair smirked. "Generally speaking, the ones who want to be in charge never ought to be in charge," he pointed out. He'd been raised to do it, his obligation to the cause by virtue of his family's place in the organization.

He nodded. "No worries," he agreed grimly. He'd made enough mistakes with his own father, who thankfully had forgiven his stupidity and helped him. "Just don't be a maudlin drunk. They're no fun to drink with." He smiled a bit, so she knew he was teasing her.

Eden shrugged. Like she knew. She had never wanted to be in charge simply because she knew she couldn't do it.

She laughed a little and shook her head, "I honestly don't remember what kind of drunk I am. It's been awhile. First year I was in Kenya, I made the mistake of drinking something with a local tribe. Turned out it was alcohol and pig's blood. Didn't drink a damn thing again after that." Okay, maybe that wasn't the best thing to be talking about while she was eating and suddenly she didn't want to eat anymore. Ed pushed the plate away from her, face having a slightly nauseous expression on it.

He was beginning to wonder if there was anything he could say that wouldn't upset her. Now he'd put her off her dinner. He shook his head and offered her the whiskey bottle.

"There's just American whiskey in there," he assured her. "Which is one thing I have to give them. Their beer is piss, but they make good whiskey." Maybe talking about nothing important would keep from upsetting her.

So far, he was failing at cheering her up at all. Which was probably a good indicator why he was still single.

He hadn't said anything. She had. It was kind of cute that he kept taking responsibility for things she had been saying that had upset herself. Silly boy.

She had never really expected him to cheer her up - just to keep her company. And as long as she wasn't screaming at him to get out, he was doing his job. Ed took the bottle from him and saluted him a bit. Carrying it out towards the living room, he sure as Hell better follow if he expected any more from it.

Flopping on the couch, she took another longer drink from it apparently content to drown her sorrows really quickly so they didn't get a chance to catch their breath. "Well I didn't expect you to fill it with anything else, mate. It's not like you can get roofies on this island," she teased.

Well, he apparently seemed to be picking poor topics.

He was trying to do both. Because really, lingering on what couldn't be changed or worrying about what had been done to her wasn't going to do her any good.

Of course he followed her, with another bottle of something else. He'd just grabbed a few bottles from the grocery shop besides whiskey. Cracking open what he had in his hand, he took a long drink.

Rum. Not his drink of choice, but it wasn't bad. Tasted of vanilla. Must be flavored. The label was in Spanish, so he could only really guess. Settling down on on the sofa, Cathair frowned.

"What's a roofie?" he asked. Yes, he lived under a rock. Or more, in a bookshop and his knowledge of popular culture was pretty much restricted to popular literature.

Once he was on the sofa, she shifted her position and draped her legs over his lap. What? He was there so she was going to use him as a leg pillow. If he didn't like it... Too fucking bad.

She glanced at the bottle that he had and arched an eyebrow, "Oi. What's that one?" Yeah, if it was what she thought it was, they were so trading. She hadn't really looked at the other bottles.

Confusion set in when he asked that very silly question. "Er... Slang for Rohypnol - a hypnotic used for severe insomnia. Occasionally used as a date-rape drug."

Her legs in his lap was much less distracting then her head there. He hesitated and looked down for a second before simply deciding it wasn't worth fussing about.

"Rum," he replied. "Vanilla flavored. Not my preference. I was just grabbing bottles." He offered it to her. "Want to trade?"

Cathair knew was Rohypnol was, he'd just never heard it referred to as 'roofie'. "Ah," he nodded. "No, I wager if that was my intentions, I'd get further just stating that than trying to force you."

"Oh brilliant," she said cheerfully. Rum. Hurray. She straightened up and scooted closer to him. Okay, closer translated into his lap which she really didn't need to do to trade bottles with him but she knew he was easy to bother and that was why she had done it. It didn't matter whether she was drinking or not; she was going to mess with Cathair.

Eden offered him the whiskey bottle in trade for the rum, "I prefer rum. Might because of my former life of piracy." It was a joke yet it wasn't. She grinned broadly at him - finally they'd found a conversation that wasn't about to depress her. "True that," she noted as she put an arm around his shoulders, "Any time, blondie. I'm not exactly shy." Understatement of the year.

Cath barely managed to move the bottle out of the way as Eden clambered into his lap. Yes, it did indeed bother him. Any man would react to a beautiful woman who kept sitting in his lap. He was also a gentleman, which meant he wasn't about to take advantage.

He traded her happily, as whiskey was his preference and it was something to distract himself with. Not that Eden was going to let him. He couldn't exactly push her away (nor did he really want to) and well, she had him trapped. "I've noticed," he replied, looking up at her. "Somehow, I think you enjoy winding me up just to see how much I'll take before I explode."

Okay, that was possibly a horrible choice of words. Cathair wasn't exactly accustomed to women throwing themselves at him. At least, being persistent about it.

Oh he could've pushed her away. A piece of her almost expected it. But still it hadn't happened so she was going to take that as permission. Laughing, she took a drink from the bottle of rum and made a pleased almost purring noise. Much better.

Eden grinned at him, "A bit, yeah. It's not like you've been telling me no, mate." As if to confirm this, she shifted to be facing him, straddling his lap, her body right up against his. "And now you've given me an accidental challenge. And I don't back down from a challenge." She waggled her eyebrows at him a little, grin fading into a smirk.

He could have, although he had no real solid reason to. And that noise was not helping. At all.

Between the purring and the grin, Cathair was back to thinking about her as some exotic jungle creature who was playing with her prey before devouring it. Which wasn't an entirely unpleasant prospect, but he hadn't exactly come here looking for this.

Although she had a point. He hadn't exactly been telling her no. He'd never had to. All he had to do was act disinterested and all the other women wandered off. Unfortunately, Eden wasn't reading his signals of discomfit the way most women did.

And now she was straddling his lap. "I did not," he protested, clinging to what little argument he had here. "That was not a challenge. It was an observation. Completely different things."

Right, even he didn't believe that. Saints, what had he gotten himself into?

He may not have come here looking and she may not have asked him here for it but what the Hell. They were trapped on an island unable to do anything about it and she was scared. Like pie, even just flirting was a comfort to her.

No, him being uncomfortable was merely a challenge and a chance to annoy someone until they broke down crying. Or screaming. Or giving in and enjoying life. Which ever happened first.

"Bull," she called on him, shaking her head a little so her hair was behind her shoulders. "You like it too much for it to be an observation," okay, she was assuming but honestly, he was a guy. Unless he was gay or really picky, there was no way he wasn't enjoying it. Eden leaned in to whisper in his ear, "Bet you'd even like to try body shots." She was just trying to put images in his head now.

Well, he was glad one of them found it comforting. It was getting uncomfortable in more than one way for Cathair. Which clearly wasn't deterring Eden any.

While she was likely absolutely correct on the first one, when she leaned in to whisper into his ear, his eyes widened and he let out a soft, strangled sort of moan.

Yes, he knew what body shots were. He may have actually done this once in uni, but he'd been far too pissed to remember. But he knew the basic concept and yes, there were images in his head, although they had very little to do with alcohol. Cathair shifted a bit in a feeble attempt to adjust his jeans in a more comfortable position.

Catholic guilt, coupled with the fact that this wasn't at all a good idea in any logical way warred with these images and exactly what she was offering. Which meant he wasn't doing anything just now. Except looking painfully uncomfortable and possibly confused.

Okay, that sound wasn't exactly doing much to deter her and hopefully he knew that. More like it spurred her on in her mission to make him so completely uncomfortable that she found the limit he would take.

With his movement, she learned exactly what sort of effect she was having on him as she was in just the right position to find out. The fact that he kind of froze concerned her and she leaned back just enough to meet his eyes, though she was still very close. In fact, she was close enough that their lips brushed when she spoke, "What's the matter, tamu? Cat got your... tongue? Or do you just not want to find out exactly what I've got tattooed?"

Normally, he had a good limit for this sort of thing. Because he could use the excuse of not letting people get close because of his double life or his past catching up with him.

He didn't have that to hide behind with Eden. Her past was just as checkered and dangerous as his was. And just as likely to come up and bite her in the arse.

Cathair took a moment to swallow hard and try to voice some of the perfectly logical reasons this was a bad idea and nothing came out. There were perfectly logical reasons why this was a bad idea. He knew there was. But he couldn't actually think of them with her that close.

So he closed the distance and kissed her instead. Because that made as much sense as the rest of this situation. Yes.

That shield had been ripped down quite thoroughly earlier and there was more still to tell him - not about herself but she was completely distracted for now, by him. This was just fun. He was broken already which meant that she still had it. And they didn't even have to get completely pissed.

She watched his mouth move a little and wondered if he was actually going to manage speech. If he did, she hadn't done her job. It was a bit of a surprise when he closed the distance between them but she didn't back off and instead pressed firmly into the kiss. She wasn't really wasting any time teasing him this time... Reaching out to one side, she set the rum bottle on the end table so she could drape both arms around his shoulders, pulling him tighter against her body.

They likely hadn't even hit the tip of the iceberg about that topic. And yes, that past that had given him the reason to keep everyone at arm's length was the last thing he was thinking about right now.

She definitely still had it. Really, the alcohol was just an excuse to get close to her again. Cathair had never met anyone he could relate to before, in nearly every way. It was so incredibly freeing. Which was probably how she broke him so fast.

In this situation, there was only two things to do. Stop, apologize and leave, isolate himself from her to avoid the awkwardness and doubting; or run with it. At this point, in this circumstance, running with it seemed the better choice. Or at least, the more appealing one.

Cath groaned into the kiss as she pulled herself tighter against him. He didn't bother to rid himself of the whiskey bottle, wrapping his arms around her, his free hand winding into her hair a bit. He'd all but forgotten it at this point, and just deepened the kiss, his tongue brushing against her lips, seeking entrance into her mouth.

Well it was nice that he finally decided to admit he wanted to be close to her. It would've been a nice self-esteem boost if he'd said it out loud although she didn't exactly need it.

If he had taken off just then, it wouldn't have stopped her. She would've followed him and dragged him off into an alleyway to try again. She was just that type. Eden had been determined to break him and had won.

She didn't even try to deny him, lips parting and inviting him in with a beckoning flick of her tongue, not at all shy about exploring his mouth or, well, anything really. Her hips rolled against his a little, just to rile him up further and she reached up to pull the rubber bands from her pigtails to loose her hair.

He never really denied it after he found out how alike they were. Now before, after she'd kneed his groin? Yes, then he'd been leery of her. That took a moment to get past, really.

That was comforting, and he really had no intentions of stopping to test that theory if he'd known.

Everything she was doing had the desired effect on him, Cathair slid his tongue into her mouth, groaning as Eden's hips bucked against his. He fumbled the whiskey bottle out of the way of her falling hair and managed to get it to the table next to them without spilling it. Then he wound his fingers back into her thick, dark wavy hair.

Yeah, well... That'd been something else entirely. She'd been in battle mode then and he'd been her unwitting victim. Now she was just kind of in panic mode and he was the object of her comfort. It didn't hurt that she was definitely attracted to him anyway.

Eden ran her hands down along his chest, digging her fingers in - really quite fiercely like she would claw his shirt right off if she could. She honestly didn't know if he would appreciate that at all but she didn't quite care either. That little pseudo-attack was meant to tell him not to worry too much about being careful and it did something to her as well in that she moaned softly into his mouth. A harsh wave of heat went straight downward as well, lighting her skin on fire as it went.

Well, it could be said he was taking advantage of her panic state right now, but really, he was just as wound up as she was from having his combat nerves on edge for days. Her trying to rattle him hadn't helped.

Cathair let out a soft hiss into the kiss as she clawed his chest through his shirt. It sent a shiver through his spine right to his groin. As wound up as he was, he wasn't certain he could be as gentle as he'd like to be in this situation. So it was a good thing she wasn't needing that.

Fuck, they had far too many clothes on and the settee was far too small for them to do this in any sort of sane way. Eden was nearly as tall as he was, the momentary thought of this sending his brain off onto a tangent of how long her legs were and how much he'd like them wrapped around him.

Yes, moving this to a more appropriate location. As soon as possible. Pulling out of the kiss, he untangled his fingers so that he could use one hand to brace as he stood up, the other firmly holding her body to his so she didn't get any mistaken ideas at his actions while he forced himself to remember how to speak English. He wasn't pushing her away at all.

"Bed," he managed in a throaty growl as he squeezed her bum roughly. Then went right back to kissing her hungrily as he started steering her towards the bedroom.
