RP: Popcorn and Movies
Characters: Tyler, Kara, Susan
Time/Date: Late night, June 30/Early morning July 1
Location: Hotel Lobby rec room area
Warnings/Rating: None
Summary: Kara has company since she doesn't want to sleep
Status: Complete

Tyler trotted down to the rec room in bare feet, black pajama pants, and a snug grey tank top. He also brought a blanket in case there weren't any down there and someone got cold. Calling a 'hey' to whoever was in the TV area, he scooted to the kitchen to dig out the microwave popcorn he'd found the other day. There were also a few Cokes in the fridge, and he got those out as well.

He really wasn't sure how long Kara really planned on staying up, but it wasn't like he'd never pulled an all-nighter.

After tipping the popcorn into a bowl, he carried it, the Cokes, and some napkins out to the couch, flopping down. Draping the blanket over the back of the couch for now, he grinned. "So what're we watching?"

Susan shrugged and reached for the popcorn and a napkin, spreading the latter over her lap. "I didn't pick the movie," she said as she gestured to Kara. "You'd have to ask her."

Kara had run to the mall, probably at mach 1, to try and find the perfect movie for the night. She wasn't sure what kind of movie Tyler would like, but he was a guy, so she could probably guess action movie would appeal to him. That or comedy. The people around her at the mall were moving in slow motion while she looked, due to her moving at such high speeds.

Eventually, she chose a an action comedy, called Rush Hour, and figured that would probably work. There were three of them too, so she grabbed all three and sped back to the rec room, just when Tyler was coming down the stairs. She managed a wave, but wasn't able to form words just yet.

She then turned to Susan, "Hey. You're the girl who helped us off the roof the other day, aren't you?"

When Tyler returned, and asked his question, she held the movies up, "Rush Hour work?" She asked, "I got all three, cause they looked like they'd be good."

[ooc: when are the dvd players going to vanish exactly? So I know the timeframe for this thread]

"That's fine," he agreed. His brow furrowed briefly when she mentioned there were three ... he only knew of two. Chalking it up to time differences (and amusing himself with the idea that he could pretend to be psychic when it was released in his time), Tyler nodded before settling himself on the couch.

"So, how long do you think think you'll be sticking with us?" he teased Susan.

She stuck out her tongue at Tyler. "Probably just for the first movie," she admitted before she glanced to Kara and nodded. "The grand unlocker of doors, yes," she said.

That was still weird, though at least the weather seemed to have leveled out lately. It was nice out, sixties and seventies, sunny and cloudless. Not oblivious to the rumors that they were in a closed environment, she opted to not worry about that. There were breezes and it felt sunny, so it was enough for her.

[Ha. They're going to start removal at/just after midnight, but will save that one for last since it's in use. If everyone's still awake, there may be some drugging involved. XD]

"Thanks for that," she told her, "You have no idea what it's like to be in the snow in that bikini." She sped around right quick, getting a drink, putting the movie in and all and all showing off, mostly for Tyler.

She then appeared sitting on the sofa, ready to watch the first movie. "Sorry you can't stay for more than one, Susan," Kara said, though inside she was glad that she would have the hot guy all to herself in just a few hours.

It wasn't that she didn't want Susan to hang out, because it was nice, getting to know new people. It's just that, Tyler was hot. Hopefully, he liked the punk girl look. If not, that would suck, cause that's the look she liked.

"Or in shorts," Tyler quipped, though he imagined it hadn't been exactly pleasant for anyone up there. Except maybe Jayne, who seemed to like the idea of the girls cuddling up with each other.

He supposed in a pinch he could have gotten them off the side of the building by using, but he wouldn't have enjoyed the aging that had come with it.

"No, I can't imagine. Makes me glad I opted not to show up though," she replied as she settled back against the couch, nibbling at her popcorn as she watched the DVD start up.

She glanced to Kara at the girl's statement, brows lifting slightly. "Well, I do enjoy getting my sleep at night," she said. "Never was one for staying up very late."

One of the many reasons she was a wet blanket to the rest of them, and old before her time, and all that.

She quickly blurred to the kitchen and grabbed two drinks, returning in a second, then offering them to Susan and Tyler. She then settled in and began watching the movie.

She always enjoyed martial arts movies, so this was a pretty good choice, in her opinion. She attempted to move closer to Tyler, without being noticed, while the movie played. She used the guise of getting some popcorn to do so.

Tyler wasn't completely oblivious, but he considered it fairly innocent and opted not to comment on it. He did notice Susan smirking slightly, and he grinned over to her.

He missed Reid though. Really missed Reid. They used to watch movies in the dorms and throw popcorn at each other, and generally act like idiots, and now here he was ... who knew where, who knew when, wondering if he'd ever see the other Sons again. His jaw clenched briefly as he swallowed.

"Did you guys ... is there a lot back home for you?" He knew some people didn't have much, but surely not everyone was an orphan or detatched from society.

"Siblings," Susan said quietly. "We were ... camping out together when I was taken. I'm not sure why they weren't, but ... I'm glad. This is no place for Lucy." Or her brothers, but especially not Lu.

"What about you?" she said to Kara. She didn't mind the conversation, but the movie wasn't really to her tastes anyway.

Kara acted more interested in the movie, at first. Her eyes were glazed over due to the question though. She looked at Susan through the corner of her eye. "I have a sister," she said quietly.

She hadn't talked to her in weeks though. She ran away from her sister after a fight they had. She was the faster of the two of them, and she used that to get away from her. She did miss her, but also still had feelings of resentment.

"Well, we'll get you back," Tyler said with a little smile. He had no way to back that, and he reasoned all three of them were perfectly aware of that fact. They were empty words, but he meant well.

"They can't keep us here forever," he said.

No, Susan thought. Just until we die. But that was morbid, and she wasn't going to voice that. So instead she just smiled over to Tyler and Kara, attempting to look reassuring. "Every experiment has to end eventually. They've got to report their findings to ... whoever's running this. So there has to be an end point."

She just hoped they lived to see that.

Kara offered a smile to the both of them, though she wasn't really feeling it. Her mind kept flashing back to the last time she talked to her sister. It wasn't the most pleasant conversation between the two of them, and the fact that it was the last time they spoke until she manages to get back didn't make her feel like a good person.

"Yeah," she said, "Has to end sometime."

Tyler reached over and tugged lightly at a lock of Kara's hair. He really didn't have a lot of practice in the area of comforting people, but she didn't look horribly distressed.

"We'll make it through," he assured her.

Susan glanced over to the pair of them, offering them both a slight smile. Deciding that the movie really wasn't for her, and the conversation was kind of depressing, she excused herself.

"Goodnight," she said to the pair of them before she moved toward the stairs. She ... wasn't keen on trusting the elevator, so she stuck to walking.

Kara waved goodnight to Susan. If she weren't in reminiscent mode, she probably would be rather gitty about being alone with such a hot guy, but as it was, she was just in the mode to not be alone.

She tried to smile at Tyler's attempt to assure her.

"So," she began, fishing for a change of topic, "What kind of power do you have?" She asked the question, almost casually, because she had yet to find someone who wasn't capable of doing something.

Tyler shook his head and shrugged slightly. "I don't really have any," he said. And so what if it was a lie? He wasn't exactly keen on spilling to everyone and god about what he could do. Lily and Jaime knew, and he was pretty sure Susan had somehow been incorporated into the knowing circle, but like Jaime, he wasn't exactly shouting from rooftops that he was a witch.

"I know a lot of people here have them, but ... not everyone does. Susan doesn't. She's just got a knack for archery." He wasn't going to extend the lie to cover the others though; they could do their own lying.

"Weird," she said, as she collected her thoughts. She had been sure that this place was some sort of holding facility for people with abilities. That was the reason she was using her ability without care. She wondered if people, like Tyler, were going to turn on her like her friends did back home. She looked at Tyler, and shook the thought from her head. Tyler was nice. He had seen her using her power and wasn't put off by it, so for whatever reason, the cute guy sitting near Kara was not going to turn on her.

"So why did they bring you guys here?" She asked, now trying to get a bit of information that she probably should have tried for when she first arrived.

"Your guess is as good as ours," he admitted. "There doesn't really seem to be any pattern to it, as far as we can tell. Lily and Jaime and I have ... been talking about it a lot," he explained, since he had said 'we' and he didn't think it was widespread who he "hung out" with on a regular basis.

How that had happened, he wasn't even really sure. They'd just sort of ... gravitated toward each other. "It does seem to be mostly ... teenagers and young adults," he offered - which wasn't much to go on. Granted, he had seen a couple of older guys ... but for the most part, it definitely seemed to be the younger generations.

Her eyes were drooping a bit at the start of the next movie, but she tried to keep them open as she continued to talk to Tyler. "That's pretty weird," she commented.

"Well maybe they'll come clean soon," she made the statement, but only halfheartedly, seeing as she doubted it herself. "Then they'll send us all home and we'll be able to get on with things."

She thought about her parents' deaths and how she was wasting time here. Flirting with a guy, showing off. She was really being a bad daughter. She looked back at the tv, hoping it would help her calm down, but it only caused her to realize she was watching a movie as opposed to finding out who killed her parents.

The thoughts she was trying to block out due to being trapped here, kept coming at her. The more she wanted to stop thinking about them, the more they came now. A cycle of thoughts surrounded by a shirtless Tyler in the swimming pool.

In reality she had fallen asleep, with an emphasis on the falling, as her head was aimed to land on Tyler's shoulder.

Tyler smirked at the idea of their captors coming clean. With a 'hey listen guys we really effed up, why don't you all go home now, no hard feelings, right?'

He thought if he ever got the chance to get ahold of one of them ... well, he'd probably pass him off to Chase. He himself wasn't much for violence, but ... he sort of wanted to be violent to these people.

When he noticed Kara getting mumbly, he figured it wouldn't be long before ... and there it was.

He settled an arm around her for a bit before he flipped the TV off. Unsure what to do with her, but reasoning a night on the couch probably wouldn't kill her, he adjusted the blankets over her and made her as comfortable as he could. His eyes flashed for a moment and he dropped a sort of protective shield around her so no one would harass her until she woke up.

Considering that a job well done, Tyler headed toward the stairs to put himself to bed.
