Summary: Tyler checks in on Jaime
Status: Complete
Tyler was tired of organizing things. He was pretty sure not everyone had signed in, either. Or hadn't yet. Maybe they didn't check the network. He'd gotten private messages from a lot of them, and he'd marked them all where they said they were. He'd also heard from Lily that Balthazar was checking on Jaime, too.
They'd both belatedly realized that was a bad idea. Balthazar was back, but Mal wasn't, and how was that going to go over with Jaime like she currently was?
After checking the network again for any messages from Lily, Tyler decided to go see how Jaime was doing, maybe relieve whoever was watching her. He knew they had a couple of doctors on staff, but one of them had been moved. So they were down to Simon and the vet. Which was ironic, since the dog and the cat were among the missing, leaving only Ambrosius -- also not here -- and Oy as her patients.
Running his fingers through his hair, Tyler started up the stairs to the second floor. When he reached the infirmary, he peeked in. He was a little surprised to see Jaime awake with her laptop open, and he offered her a slight smile.
"Hey," he murmured softly, glancing over to see if she had company or not.
"Hey," she replied as she closed her computer. "He's not back yet."
Tyler shook his head slightly. "No, he's not," he admitted as he moved in to sit on the edge of her bed.
"He's not coming back," she said dully. "Balthazar came back, but ... not Mal."
He bit his lower lip, shaking his head. "You don't ... know that. Not for sure," he murmured. "There's a chance he'll come back, or ... he'll show up on the new island, and ... we'll see him there." He swallowed audibly, looking away. Tyler wasn't exactly the best liar, and with the knowledge of what Lily had shared weighing on him ... well, it felt like a lie to say they'd be going to the new island.
"Whatever," Jaime muttered as she set her laptop on the table and rolled onto her side to face the wall. She'd just ... go back to sleep. At least she saw Mal in her dreams. If that was the only place she'd ever see him, she didn't really have any problem sleeping forever.
Tyler watched Jaime, concern in his blue eyes. He wanted to help her, but he was starting to think that short of them returning Mal, nothing was going to help Jaime. Maybe in time though. The wound was still fresh, after all. Bracing his elbow on his knee, he rested his head in his hand and sighed softly. He really just ... wanted to crash, but he didn't want to leave Jaime alone. So he'd ... stay here until Simon came back, or Remus or Balthazar checked in.
