Salem was out to try to see what he could find in the way of things to do, or collect, or simply eat. He liked human food, far more than cat food, but the humans here were not used to talking cats, and he much rather would like to make his own food to his own specifications. He was a demanding customer, after all.
He ran along the streets for the joy of it, nose and ears alert, eyes scanning the night. He hummed softly as he ran, loving the feel of how muscles stretched. He didn’t run a lot, but when he did, he did it for enjoyment. He peered into each building as he found it, looking for treasure. He didn’t find anything at first, but upon turning a particular turn, he stopped, and smirked.
A mall. Glorious place of leisure and pleasure, and all for him to loot. He pattered down to it, and slipped inside, planning. First stop was a toy store, where he acquired a red wagon and some rope. This would be fun!
An hour passed and he was trudging along one of the streets, having stopped at several places and gotten canned ham, canned fish, canned spaghetti, canned milk, shampoo, a few extra blankets, a scratching post, and a few other items. It was at times like these that he truly hated not being a human, and having access to his magic. He could float this along so easily, and pull it without effort, were he human and magic again.
He grumbled as he went along. “So what if I tried to take over the world? I’m neither the first nor the last! Being trapped like this is inhumane! Evil, even!” But at least he had managed to find some supplies. He hadn’t been sure what to believe, about their captors, especially after all that noise. Ah well!
