She nodded sagely, poking at the ice cream in her bowl and stirring it around some. "No one's magic works anymore. Not even Lizzy's," she said. "I don't mind though," she said. "About mine not working, I mean." In fact, if hers never ever came back, she wouldn't be in the least put out by it. It simply meant she wouldn't accidentally end someone's life here like she had at home.
"Do you think they'll really give it back?" she inquired as she thoughtfully swirled her spoon in the ice cream. "Lily thinks they took it away because we scared them and now they're just going to keep it forever and ever," she continued before licking the ice cream from her spoon.
"She thinks they won't really give the guns back, either," she added as she lowered the spoon back to the dish. "Did you have a gun too? Or just magic?"
