RP: The Head Heads Visit
Characters: Christoph, Matt, Sam, Josef, Jason, Katie
Time/Date: Evening, September 1
Location: Sekrit Lab
Warnings/Rating: Swears
Summary: The Big Giant Heads come to visit
Status: Complete
The first of the month was when they ran their reviews on the various experiments they were conducting. They were aware of the progress, aware of what sorts of individuals were being approved and signed off on, but they hadn't really looked at this island too closely. Until now, with Sam's idle comment while she was being treated.
Christoph, Josef, and those in their employ reviewed the records and key recordings, and they determined the island was moving a little quickly, and if Matt was not careful, he may render one ore more of the subjects useless for experimentation.
The fact the four had been killed was a non-issue to them. It added another real element to their captive's lives, something for their captives to witness, to react to. But the captives were meant to have breaks to recover, and so far, the island had not had one. So that meant it was time to enforce one.
They had a very, very dark time coming up, after all, and Christoph wanted them well rested for it. A cold smile curved his lips before he sighed contently. Stepping into the lab alongside Josef, Christoph surveyed the interior. His eyes fell on their field worker who was working with one of the machines before his gaze slipped to their chemist, hard at work. He noticed Dr. Matt was sitting very stiffly, and his eyes slid to Dr. Sam where she was sitting with her bandaged leg extended in front of her.
"It is funny to me, that vhen ve come, you are ... ah ... all so busy," he said. Not that he doubted they worked, but this ... this had the feel of everyone looking busy because the big boss was on the floor. "Dr. Somms, if I might speak vith you? Ve haff much to discuss in regard to this experiment, yes?"
Matt exhaled, but he nodded as he pushed away from his work station. He had a feeling he knew what this was going to be about - what else was it ever about when the project heads themselves came in to chat? - and he knew he wasn't going to like it. Absolute worst, they'd take him off the project. The best he could hope for was a closer monitoring of the experiments, but he doubted that was in the cards.
Josef nodded to Sam. "Dr. Declan, if I might speak with you while they are occupied?"
Sam nodded as she put the recorders on auto, turning on the pulse monitors so they'd have an idea of where to start looking for interesting reactions once they were done with their meeting. If both of them were being pulled away ... she had a feeling something was about to go down. Since she'd been behaving, she was sure it was Matt ... but there was that niggling little doubt that everyone always had when the boss wanted to talk to them. Once she had everything set, she rose to follow Josef.
Jason watched them go, then glanced over to Katie. "What do you think that was about?"
"They're calling a cease fire for two weeks," she replied.
"Have I ever, ever mentioned how much it pisses me off when you know things before I do?"
Katie shrugged. "So sign up to be a field agent. You have to know shit ahead of time for that."
"Are they still bringing people in?"
Katie nodded. "But no hazards or powers for two weeks. Give or take. They're going to give it a week for sure, and then see where they stand then before they decide whether or not to do anything else to them, so they're estimating ten to fourteen on it. By then we should be ready for attack number two ..." Katie smiled.
"That's with ... the things you can't see, right? How's that going for you?"
"You, can just shut the fuck up," Katie replied irritably. "We've got a system." She scoffed slightly. "At least I didn't get shot," she retorted.
"Yet," Jason quipped back, glancing toward the door. "I'm pretty sure you're still on the schedule," he taunted her before he shifted his attention back to his work. The last thing he wanted was for Josef or Christoph to catch him ... not working.
Katie rolled her eyes, but she too turned her attention back to her work. Hers was legitimate; she was pretty sure Jason was just doing busy work so he had an excuse to hang out and see what happened when the project heads left. She was a little curious herself.
