So Central Park really wasn't always a giant slum. I didn't believe it when I was a kid, but here I am seeing it with my own eyes. How'd people fuck this up?

That sounds like a dress. But also, a lot of my clothes are pink now, so that alone doesn't mean anything.

People don't really die around here. At least they don't stay dead. Found that out a while ago. Not to say they won't suddenly change the rules, but unless there's something to be gained from it you don't really want to kill your experiments.

no one stays dead anywhere. we went to the cdc and they said the walkers are everywhere.

Nah. Pink used to be a color for boys since it was derived from red and red was a color of strength and power. And blue was for girls since it was serene and related to the Virgin Mary. Not sure when it got flipped around. But my old lady told me that and she was right about everything.

Walkers? Like zombies?

i still wouldnt want to wear it. we always put my baby sister Judith in these pink dresses with polka dots and ruffles and stuff. it doesnt make her look very tough.

Sure, but if everyone in the world thinks that pink is for a girls and guy is tough enough to wear it, would you want to mess with him?

We had another guy here for a while whose world had zombies. For all the shit we gotta put up with where I come from, I'm glad that ain't one of them. How long you been dealing with that?

See? Doesn't matter.

Shit. That's a long time to deal with that. I guess I'm from the future? Or a different world. Not everyone here is from the same world. But Baltimore, originally, then Luna, then this rock on the asteroid belt, Ceres.

To be honest, I don't have much of a choice here. I just don't mind it.

Luna is one of the moons of Mars. Folks started colonizing out into space a couple hundred years ago, by my time, because of overpopulation and pollution and stuff. And then a guy built this fusion drive engine so we can go further and do it faster and now some of the outer planets' moons - like Ganymede, that orbits Jupiter - are being colonized too. That's what I do, I work on those engines, keep them in top shape. Though I sort of work on the whole ship, really.
