You're talking to someone who built a literal suit of armour to keep people away, and subsequently used it to destroy pretty much every meaningful relationship I've ever had. Which is something I take responsibility for. So I don't really care why he's using the words he's using or doing what he's doing. He's responsible for the impact they have. And coddling him and making excuses for him just let's him get away with not taking on that responsibility himself.

She's a literal robot. She's exactly the person who could help him build one, but she's also wary of why people want robots. Him especially. Probably because he's a constant asshole.

He is responsible for that he says, obviously. He's an asshole and he knows he's an asshole. I'm not making excuses for him either, just trying to keep things from getting worse. Because I don't think we need to get into a dick measuring contest here about who's smarter and I think that actively alienating potential allies as we're heading into what is totally a Hunger Games scenario is a pretty stupid idea.

She is? That's neat. I don't know anything about robots, so that's about all I can add to that conversation. But I get why she would be wary. I don't think anyone could blame her for that.

Really? Potential allies? That's pretty loaded terminology you're throwing around here. Flip the script a little bit here. You have a white, educated older man accosting a teenage girl of a visible minority (robot) and telling her he wants to meet (make) more of 'her kind' for whatever purposes he sees fit and she shouldn't get to have a say in it. Would that not set off all the warning bells, for you?

He might be responsible for what he says but he's certainly not taking responsibility here, and you're making it easier for him not to. Because you are making excuses for his behaviour -- you're telling me to lay off him. And not telling him to stop talking about sex with a teenage girl (e.g. screwing robots). This isn't a dick measuring contest, what this is is me trying to tell the pervert he screwed himself out of getting what he wants.

No, it's certainly my favourite place to be. I've thought about relocating out that way a few times. But Harvard is such a hot mess right now.

If I were going to tell you to lay off, I would say to lay off. I'm not saying that. And I'm also not seeing where he said he wanted to have sex with robots? He offered to blow you for parts and offered to make me a talking, health monitoring vibrator. And asked who he had to screw to get parts. So maybe I'm just not seeing what you're seeing or you're pissed at him and seeing things that aren't necessarily there.

And yes, I'm using loaded terminology. I've read the books and seen the movies and if that's what's about to happen, I'm dead serious about alienating allies. I can get why you're not as serious about it, though. You're an Avenger. You have more than enough people here who would be willing to make an alliance with you if you get voluntold to be a Tribute. I'm not a super genius and I have exactly one Avenger connection and he isn't here. If I don't think tactically, even now, I'm screwed in there even more than I already am.

I'll be more concerned if he gets parts to build something larger than a talking vibrator.

I have no friends here I didn't earn. There are no Avengers, not like there used to be. And allies aren't allies if they will very clearly throw you under the bus the second it's necessary for them to do so for their own survival.

If he builds you a vibrator, I'd check it for cameras.

Institutions that old choose tradition over innovation, and all of the cultural hang-ups that tend to come with it.

The Avengers might not be the Avengers but you're still an Avenger. They're still Avengers. Family sticks together, even when you're pissed at each other, when you need to.

See, I know him about as well as I know you, which is not at all. For all I know, if you and I were both Tributes, you would be the one to throw me under the bus. (For the record, I don't actually think that you would, but I don't think he would either. I've got pretty good instincts and I don't get that vibe from him. He'd probably leave me in the dist to deal with shit on my own, but I don't think he'd actively endanger someone else. But I could be totally wrong.)

I have seen those porn flicks and yeah. Definitely checking for that.

That's why I love Culver. Innovation over all, man. The only better place is IWP but it's all policy and not hard sciencey like all you super genius types like.

Yeah. Because I've been there when Thor would drop everything to go look for Hydra with you all and I've seen what it did to him and what it did to Jane. You don't make that kind of sacrifice for people you aren't emotionally invested in. And yeah, some of it is probably personal responsibility because of what his dickhead brother did and making amends and stuff, but still. If not family, at least friends.
