I hate to admit it but I'm actually starting to like it here. It feels like a fresh start. Something new. I don't like that this happened and I hate how many kids are running around and I'm always looking over my shoulder waiting for The Human, but...I could live here. And that's kinda worrying me.

Alright, so I know enough about science to know that every experiment can't last forever. Even the long haul ones gotta end at some point or else you never get results, and hey, what's the point of science without results, right. So as much as I don't wanna know, do we know when this is gonna end? And what happens when it does?

Where are our Pokemon gonna live if we're always getting shoved into different scenarios?

This as in the Pokemon world or this as in our captivity with the Wittgenstein?

Specifically the Pokemon but if you got an idea for when I'll be sent home, I'm willing to 'ear what you've got to say.

They tend to last two or three weeks. But the change in our confinement to our cities suggest we may be in the denouement.

As for how long we are stuck in these scenarios, it could be months until we get bored, it could be millenia until we claw our ways out. But you wouldn't go kidnapping people for something like this without some preparation. I would say six years.

So it's ending soon. What happens then?

You almost make it sound like we've got some say in how long we stay here.

We either go to another scenario or back to the Wittgenstein Compound.

Don't we? Even cosmic power can be toppled with suitable intellect and willpower.

I dunno. Experiments can last a long time. In 1879, American botanist William James Beal loaded up 20 bottles with a mix of sand and seeds from a variety of plants. He then buried the bottles neck-down to prevent water from entering the mix. He did it to determine whether seeds would still sprout after remaining dormant for a very long time. Every five years at first (but now every 20 years), one of the bottles is dug up by researchers and the seeds are planted to see if anything grows. In 2000, two of the 21 plant species in the bottle sprouted. The next bottle will be unearthed in 2020, with the experiment slated to be finished in 2100.

But usually scenarios last like two weeks.

That's more of what I meant, yeah. Don't sweat it.

You know what kinda data they're collecting here, Scienceman?

I don't really know. It seems like the point of the experiment is, "something something human nature, ethics, and moral philosophy." But given that the study has a Pokémon component, I feel like that's about as much of a smokescreen as "ethics in gaming journalism."

Seeds to me like you're fun at parties, aren't you kid? But point stands, the experiment is gonna end.

Is this a thing in your world? People do this?

I like to think so.

Kidnapping people and making them take part in weird experiments, or telling strangers way too much about seeds?

If you think so, you probably are.

I meant more 'burying bottles for more than 100 years to see what happens to the things inside' but I guess the second one is also a reasonable thing to ask.

Well. I mean. I think I would be, anyway. Parties usually don't go great for me. The last time I went to a party the DJ made up a song about me. It was not a nice song.

Oh. Well. No. I don't think so. Just that one guy, mainly. And the guys who've been doing it since he died. I guess maybe some other people are doing it and not saying anything about it, but that would be weird. Although I guess not that much weirder than saying something about it. But it's only science if you write it down.

I've been wondering that too.

That and do we get to keep the pokemon.

Apparently these things only last a few weeks. I guess that's enough time to get whatever results they need.

I hope so. I don't wanna think about what they'll do with them if they don't come back with us. They kidnap a bunch of people, they probably have nothing against killing these little guys.

I wonder what kind of results they're looking for by making us play a real life version of a video game?

From the sounds of it I think they just wanted to goof off.

They didn't need to bring me here for that.

We're really really really close to beating THE POKEMON CHAMPION!!!! so maybe we go home after then.

But I want to stay here forever with all my new friends.

Yeah, this isn't so bad. I could get used to this. Not the company I'm used to but they're cute and friendly, I wouldn't mind Pokeing around here for another while.
