included is a wedge of fine Swiss

You are far too kind, I’ve never gotten flowers before! My boss thinks they are from my fake fiancé, which is just as well, he’ll ask less questions than my well meaning da and granny. You didn’t have to, but I love them all the same. Here’s a bit of a new import from Bern. Hope you like as well!!

Best,
Greta

It is truly a crime that you have never received flowers before, and I am glad I could be of service to remedy this. You have a fake fiancé? The plot thickens. Do tell, if you feel like it.

As for the gift of cheese: thank you. There have been many days and nights when I have been so busy that I had nothing in the house to eat except the cheese I bought from you and some soda bread. A lifesaving combination. I have never encountered a piece of chocolate or cheese that I didn't like, although the jury is still out on white chocolate and Stinking Bishop and epoisses.

Best,
Damocles.

It makes sense, I'm not really a get flowers kind of girl. I'm more, have a pint or some cheese with, I guess.

The story isn't that interesting. Jamie Goyle came into the Magic Neep and pretended to be my fiance in front of my boss and got a load of free cheese, wine and whiskey out of me. It was more embarrassing that I couldn't figure out how to just tell him to shove off and got flustered. Closest I've had to a bloke interested, though he were just messing about to get free food.

I am, of course, forever in your service for finding the finest of either.

Always,
Greta

You surprise me. I never knew there was a "not-really-a-get-flowers-kind-of-girl" type. If there is such a thing, you are not it. Although, inarguably, pint and cheese also sounds great if done earnestly.

That is not the kind of story I was expecting. A terrible thing, and unnecessary as well. I must admit that I was not sharp enough to come up with snappy retorts when I was younger in similar situations. But it should be of some comfort, surely, that such a base creature is not you real fiancé. He should be blacklisted from the Neep.

You are too kind and patient with, as your friends said, an 'old man'.

Best,
Damocles.

Well, usually flowers are a romantic gesture and haha, um yeah no. I'm not one that people have romantic thoughts about.

It's fine, he's a tosser but somehow it seems like more work than it's worth. He'll grow bored of bothering me so might as well just leave it be. Though I guess I can tell my boss we broke up and that will help with the tossing out? Who knows!

You're not an old man, that's just silly. You're seasoned. Like a great pan.

&etc,
Greta
