Who: Teddy Boot & Elizabeth Vance
What: A date!
When: Evening, November 2nd
Where: In the air and on a cliff top on the opposite side of the lake
Rating: SFW (although C for caution – here be cuteness!)
Status: Incomplete

Truth be told, Teddy was extremely excited. He had been almost desperately awaiting tonight since he had finally sorted his head out and owled Elizabeth four days previous with the tentative plan of how their date would go. Really though, he was still processing the fact that he had a date in the first place. He had been mildly shocked when the Slytherin had bid on him at the auction, but had by no means been upset. Indeed, it was more than he could have hoped for. Ever since they first began to talk properly and consider one another as more than schoolmates, he had been finding that his affection for her tended to grow every time they were together. The more time he spent with her, the more he found that he enjoyed her company. Although he still couldn't confess to knowing Elizabeth particularly well, he was extremely fond of what he did know and therefore, he was excited to see what the date would hold for the pair of them.

Teddy had made a request to the house elves that morning (by leaving a note for them with his laundry) and had been pleased to see a basket of his listed food sitting on his bed when he'd come back from class. He had also checked the weather forecast in the Prophet that morning, pleased to see that it would be a clear and crisp autumn evening. Indeed, everything seemed to be going according to plan and he couldn't have been more thankful for it. He had taken his time in getting ready, opting to stay in his dorm as his friends made their way down to dinner. Eventually (after changing more times that he'd care to admit) he was happy with his appearance and was ready to leave. Before exiting the dormitory, he grabbed his broomstick and slung it over one shoulder before picking the basket up and leaving. He knew that he had plenty of time and so he wandered slowly towards the Entrance Hall to await his date, a rather nervous bubble of anticipation beginning to form in the pit of his stomach. Eventually he made it to his destination with a little bit of time to spare. Moving out of the way of passing students, Teddy stood near the front doors as he waited for Elizabeth to arrive.

Elizabeth bit her lip nervously again as she watched Teddy. Nevertheless, despite her nerves, she was actually rather excited about it. Sure, Elizabeth Vance on a broom was probably a rather silly sight, but she found it rather endearing because she'd never done it before. She grinned back up at the boy, her eagerness clearly starting to flood her face. “You say that now. But at the end of it, you might have to pry me off,” she responded, a hint of jest in her voice. Her last words echoed in her ears for a few moments after she said them. She crinkled her eyebrows, realising that maybe that had been the wrong thing to say. Nevertheless, there was truth to it. If the plan went haywire, and she ended up being absolutely terrified, she’d probably be too scared to let go. But, there was also a part of her that found the idea utterly appealing, and she considered that there might be a part of her that wouldn’t want to let go. Instantly, she mentally slapped herself for that thought. She recovered quickly, smiling at Teddy. “Like I said, I trust you.”

When Teddy mounted the broom, she smiled shyly to herself before she moved a little closer to the Hufflepuff. Elizabeth wrapped her arms around Teddy’s waist before the boy lightly kicked off the ground. Her gaze concentrated on the ground for a few moments, and the sight brought a grin to the girl’s lips. She looked back up at Teddy as he turned around, not letting her grin falter for even the slightest of seconds. She nodded enthusiastically, despite the fact that she was still a little nervous. Sure, ever since she had gotten closer to the boy her nerves had started to disappear rather quickly, but they were still present. She looked out quickly at the landscape to find some courage, and quickly turned her gaze back to the boy. “Definitely,” she responded.

Teddy didn't think that Elizabeth looked silly at all. In fact, he would have been quite willing to tell her how absolutely stunning she looked in that moment. He kept the comment to himself however, not wanting her to think that he was staring. He definitely did like the sight though. "So long as you enjoy it, that's all that matters," he said softly, adjusting his position in order to get comfortable. He honestly couldn't stop the light blush that made its way into his cheeks as he felt her arms wrap around him, the fluttering in his stomach growing more violent for a few moments until he calmed himself down.

Once the pair of them were in the air, Teddy craned his neck back once again in order to see that the girl was okay. Catching her nod, he grinned and returned it before facing forwards once again. Instead of soaring off as fast as he could as he usually would have, he began to ascend steadily. Sighing contently at the slight breeze that ruffled his hair, he called back. "Is this okay for you?" he asked, speeding up just a touch as the pair of them began to fly over the lake.

Once they started to fly over the lake, the girl couldn't help but grin from ear to ear. Even though they had only just started, she had already decided that she loved it. She contemplated why she did briefly, but there was a beauty to it that she admired. There was also a beauty in the way she felt when she realised that was Teddy sharing something he really loved with her. When she heard the boy ask her if she was okay, her grin formed into a small, but genuine smile. She moved her head closer to the boy, her head almost resting on his shoulder. "Yes. You could go faster if you wanted," she whispered into the boy's ear before she bit her lip to hide her mischievous smirk. She very much wanted for Teddy to pick up speed, simply because she wanted to know how it felt.

Elizabeth moved her head back to its original place, away from the boy's ear. She peered in front of the boy to get a glimpse of the view that lay ahead. After admiring the view for a few moments, she looked back quickly at the castle. She loved Hogwarts, but that didn't mean she loved everyone in it, and it could all get too much sometimes. However, right now, she was finding some sort of strange inner peace. Something she couldn't really find around her friends. The thought made a small smile tug at her lips, and she turned her head back around. Without really thinking, the Slytherin rested her chin on Teddy's shoulder as they continued to fly through the air. It wasn't something that she would really do with her other friends, but when her head rested on Teddy, it felt right - she felt comfortable.

Teddy had loved flying since the moment he'd first ridden a broomstick in first year. He had been eager to try it since he had discovered that wizards had the ability and it had very much been a passion of his since then. It wasn't just a hobby to him, but something that gave him freedom. He was never unhappy when he was flying and it seemed to be the first thing that he went to do when he was feeling less than his usual chipper self. Therefore he was delighted that Elizabeth seemed to be enjoying it and he was pleased to have been the person to introduce her to this feeling. Indeed, he sincerely hoped that he had instilled a love of flying within her. "Don't you feel free up here?" he asked tentatively, wondering if she got the same emotions out of this as he did. He wasn't quite sure but he felt as though she might be inclined to agree.

As he felt her breath tickle his ear, Teddy beamed and took a breath of his own before nodding and complying with her request. He sped up a little, still not as fast as he usually would have but plenty quick enough for now. The breeze skimmed his cheeks and blew through his hair, slightly chilly but by no means unpleasant. It got significantly better as he felt her cosy up against his back, her chin resting comfortably on his shoulder. He couldn't deny that he had the biggest urge to turn his head and peck her cheek in that moment, but he refrained in order to focus on where they were flying.

Like the majority of things that happened when he was in Elizabeth's company, it wasn't long before it was over. They neared the cliff top steadily as Teddy lowered his speed again, landing as gracefully and calmly as he possibly could. Once he felt his feet touch the ground, he continued sitting and carefully turned to look at Elizabeth with a smile, "How was that?"

Another smile played at her lips when Teddy asked her about what she felt. Naturally, she agreed with what the boy had said. She did feel free. Almost as if everything she had ever worried about, or cried about was irrelevant. "Yes, most definietly. It's so beautiful. I mean, the feeling of it all," she responded, her tone soft, and a hint of awe in her voice. Everything was rather enchanting, and she couldn't help but feel it all. It was like every sense was heightened. The beauty of flying, and the sensational feeling that she got when she was around Teddy was overwhelming, but she welcomed it all completely.

When Teddy sped up, a giggle escaped her lips as the breeze flicked her hair around. Her adrenaline started to rush, and while her stomach was doing flips, she was completely entranced by it. She felt a warmness now that she was closer to the boy, and everything about it was breathtaking.

When they approached the clifftop, her smile faltered slightly, however, when she realised how beautiful the view would be, it found its place again. When Teddy landed, she unwrapped her arms from around him almost instantly, however, more than a little reluctantly. When Teddy turned around to face her, her smile was still firmly in place. It was almost like she couldn't explain it, however, she knew one thing, and that was that she loved it. "It was incredible," she responded, her eyes still sparkling slightly from the rush she had felt only seconds ago. She hopped off the broom slowly, turning back to face the castle. Her smile faded, only because the view was breathtaking. Elizabeth looked back at Teddy, looking at him for a few moments without saying a single word. "It's incredible," she breathed before she turned her head back around so she could take in the view once more.

Teddy remained as still as he was able to as he felt Elizabeth detach herself from him. Instantly he felt a little colder, the flicker of a frown on his lips at the chill. It didn't last long though, not when he saw the expression on Elizabeth's face. She looked extremely happy and that in turn made him grin. Dismounting from his broom, he took the basket from the end and set both on the ground, busying himself for a moment with pulling a blanket out and unfolding it so that they had somewhere to sit. Once he was positive that it wasn't going to fly off (after charming several rocks to weigh down each corner), he resumed his full height before walking over to the girl.

Moving to stand next to her, Teddy allowed his own gaze to scan across the lake towards the castle. He was sure that the sight would always take his breath away. As he felt Elizabeth's gaze on him, he turned to look at her with a small and extremely content smile. Then, as he watched her resume looking at the castle, he leaned over closer so that their arms were gently pressed against one another. It was a simple gesture but Teddy felt as though it expressed his desire to be near to her, to share this with her. Really, the silence was enough in that moment, with the pair of them looking out over the horizon together. Teddy didn't want to be the first to break it, and so he remained quiet as he alternated his gaze from the astounding view before him and the equally breathtaking sight stood next to him.

Elizabeth was used to silence, probably more than most people. It was because she was often quiet, and never really the instigator of most conversations. However, depending who she is around, silence can definitely be welcomed, and something she prayed for, mostly because the thought of talking just seemed irritating to her. However, in a strange, and completely different way, the silence she shared with Teddy was also welcomed. Simply because there wasn't a strain or awkwardness to it. Elizabeth thought it was just a moment that didn't need to be ruined with words. It was just her, and Teddy, and she was more than pleased to take the moment, the silence, and the beauty. The view had taken her breath away, and her features had softened remarkably. Her smile wasn't as wide as it had been moments earlier, it was sort of hidden. That wasn't a bad thing, though. It was almost like it paralleled with her and Teddy. They were hidden away but there was a beauty in that.

She kept her eyes out onto the horizon, completely absorbed by it all. It was like viewing everything from the outside made it all make sense. The Slytherin was rather entranced by it all, and only snapped back to reality when she felt Teddy's arm grace her own. Her small smile grew slightly bigger as her lips tugged up at the feel of his touch. She didn't look at the boy at first, simply because everything was perfect, and she didn't need to offer the boy a smile, or say something, because she was pretty sure he knew exactly what she was feeling. Nonetheless, after a few moments, she felt as if the boy was looking at her. Surely enough, he was. She turned to face him, tilting her head slightly, her features softening even more. After a few moments however, she narrowed her eyes kindheartedly as she bit the corner of her bottom lip softly. “Why are..” she spoke softly, however, she stopped herself, and remained silent for a few more moments.

Eventually however, with little hesitation, her hand found his, and she intertwined her fingers with his own. She hoped that she hadn't overstepped her bounds as a friend, but it felt right to her, and she hoped it did to him too. She began to pull him slowly, and gently back towards the blanket he put down moments earlier, smiling slightly up at him. "So, what did you bring to eat?" she asked.

Teddy didn't look away as Elizabeth spotted him staring, his eyes catching her lips as she bit them. There his focus remained, watching as she spoke and stopped mid-way through her sentence. His own lips quirked before he went to reply, his words dying in his throat as he felt her skin brush his. Tearing his eyes away from her face, he peered down at their linked hands for a moment until he felt a full-blown grin form on his face. It did feel right to him, his fingers slowly lacing through her own so that their palms were touching together lightly. He moved with her willingly as she edged towards the blanket, his eyes not flickering away for even a second.

As the pair of them sat down, Teddy pulled the basket closer as his other hand remained encasing Elizabeth's own. He didn't much feel like letting go and would only do so when she instigated it. He rather liked the contact and was happy that Elizabeth had made the first move to begin with. He wasn't entirely sure how far he should push it, what with it only being the first date and all. Then again, there might not have been a second, so he was determined to make the most of it whilst he could.

"Oh, a few things," he said with a smile, opening the basket and beginning to pull several things out with his free hand. "Mostly sandwiches and stuff since I didn't want to ask the house elves to prepare something too elaborate. I think there's potato salad too, and pasta. Oh, and chocolate cake." Once some of the items he'd listed had been set on the blanket, Teddy looked up at Elizabeth almost nervously as he waited for approval, "I hope that's alright?"

As Teddy's fingers intertwined with her own, there was a slight sense of relief. There had been no hesitation on her part, but she wasn't completely sure how he felt, and she didn't want to overstep any boundaries. Nevertheless, she caught Teddy's eyes lingering on their linked hands for a few moments, and his grin sent a wave of reassurance through her.

As they sat down, she watched the boy eagerly, a smile still gracing her lips. She quickly looked down at his hand intertwined with her own, realising that he hadn't let go. For a few split seconds she considered dropping her hand, only because there was still a sense of uncertainty. However, she didn't because of the fact that she really didn't want to. In fact, for the moment, she was sure she probably couldn't.

"It sounds lovely, really," she responded, happiness flooding her voice. Everything was still so foreign to her, and even the littlest of things excited the Slytherin. "Chocolate cake is one of my favorites," she noted, nodding in approval as her smile formed into a slightly cheekier one. As Teddy busied himself with getting everything out of the basket, she kept her eyes on him. "Teddy?" she piped up. "Thank you," she said softly. It wasn't just a thank you for everything he'd organised tonight, but there was so much about Teddy she was grateful for.

Once everything was set out, Teddy chanced a look at Elizabeth and couldn't help but feel utterly relieved that she seemed so happy. It put him at ease to know that things were going well, his nerves ebbing away as time passed. The food he'd asked for wasn't exactly very warming and was more of a summer spread but, as he'd said, he didn't want to cause the elves too much trouble.

"Is it really?" Teddy asked, looking at Elizabeth with a beaming smile as she mentioned the cake, "Mine too!" It was only one thing they had in common but he was sure that it was one of many that he hoped to discover. Then as Elizabeth extended her thanks, Teddy shook his head and blushed slightly. Squeezing her hand gently, he shrugged awkwardly before forcing himself to stop being silly and actually look at her. Now that the sun was setting, the light caught Elizabeth's hair and face, highlighting her skin and making her look more radiant than ever (a feat that Teddy hadn't thought possible). "You're welcome," he replied, sending her a shy smile. He wasn't entirely sure why she was thanking him, for he believed that it ought to have been the other way around. Then again, it appeared as though they were more than grateful for one another.

As much as he didn't want to, Teddy needed both hands in order to sort the food out. Reluctantly he let Elizabeth's hand go after squeezing it lightly again, instantly reaching for a covered bowl of what he believed to be the potato salad. A moment later and he'd extended a fork for Elizabeth to take, "I don't know what you want to try first but it all looks amazing."

Elizabeth watched the Hufflepuff in amusement as he beamed at her, her smile matching his. Almost instantly, the girl nodded her head slowly in confirmation about the cake. Elizabeth contiuned to look at the boy in slight amusement, grinning slightly to herself as he looked at her again. She almost dropped her gaze as her smile faltered slightly when her features softened remarkably. As Teddy told that girl that she was welcome, a soft, and small smile tugged at her lips again before she let out a soft sigh. She wondered if the boy knew or would ever know the extent of her gratitude. For everything, really. For listening to her, making her feel constant rushes of calmness, for making her smile, and so much more.

She watched their hands as Teddy let go, finding it slightly disappointing that she wouldn't be able feel his hand in hers anymore. She moved it to rest back into her laps for a few brief moments before she used the same hand to take the fork off Teddy. When Teddy asked her what they should eat first, she pondered on the thought for a moment before she rubbed her lips together gently, and narrowing her eyes cheekily. "Would it be absolutely terrible if we ate the chocolate cake first?" she mused, a cheeky grin gracing her lips. It was rare for her to be playful or cheeky, but she felt completely at liberty to do so around Teddy. Besides, she really loved chocolate cake.

Teddy had been about to get started on the potato salad as Elizabeth mentioned eating the cake first. Returning her mischievous look, he set the bowl down before leaning over and picking the cake up, moving it so that it sat between the pair of them. "Not terrible at all," he assured, nodding at it in order to indicate that she go first, "It looks really good and we're not playing by any rules here." If the lady wanted cake, then cake she'd have. As he said, they didn't have anybody else to answer to that evening save themselves, so starting a meal with dessert was perfectly acceptable. Besides, Elizabeth had technically been the one to buy the date, so Teddy felt as though she should at least get what she paid for.
