Dear Ms. LeBreton,
My name is Judah Goldstein, Isaac’s older brother. Isaac’s teacher, Professor Flitwick, told us that you were the one who found Isaac in the hallway, and recently when Isaac came to he asked me to write to you to let you know that he’s going to be okay, since it must have been disturbing to see that. Isaac was unconscious initially from the head injury, but then the doctors- or healers, rather- had him in a magically induced sleep while they were working on the damage from the curse. This sounds so strange- But he woke up today and he’s doing better.

The real concern the healers had was with the damage from the curse the other person or student or whomever used. It was some sort of dark magic. I can’t really describe in too much detail what exactly happened, because it’s a bit difficult for me to make sense of it myself. I’m not a wizard like Isaac, so this is all rather unfamiliar to me and the rest of our family. It seems like the curse induced the type of internal injuries you might get from a car crash or the magical equivalent of that. The healers were able to take good care of him though, and he’s well on his way to recovery. The curse hit him in the chest, but fortunately it didn’t hit his heart. He’ll probably be in the hospital until the end of the week, because he’s still rather weak and the healers have to administer a number of potions to him to heal the internal damage. They’ve assured us plenty of times that Isaac will make a full recovery, and he’s perfectly coherent now, only he doesn’t remember what happened to him. He just needs a lot of rest, which is why I’m writing to you on his behalf.

I’m not sure exactly when he’ll be back in school. Our parents aren’t very keen on the idea of him returning at all, actually, but of course he has to, which I’ve tried to explain to them, but they’re obviously very upset and they’re not very happy with the school right now. This was, as I'm sure you can imagine, very shocking for us, and we really can't imagine why anyone would do something like this to Isaac. We were told it was probably related to prejudice in the wizarding world, which Isaac hadn't exactly told us about, which is of course very unsettling for us, since from what I understand we're what the "bad guys" don't like about him. They’re planning on taking him home after he’s released from the hospital, but I’m sure once they calm down a bit they’ll be able to see things a bit more rationally and realise Isaac's a bright student who needs to finish his education in the magical world.

Thank you so much for finding Isaac and bringing what happened to the teachers’ attention. It was imperative that he received medical attention as soon as possible, and I think you helped a lot in that regard, and I could really never thank you enough. I hate to ask for favours after you've done so much, but if you wouldn't mind letting the rest of Isaac's friends know that he'll be okay, I'm sure he'd really appreciate it. He also mentioned something about asking you to owl a journal. I didn't know Isaac kept a journal, but I guess he does, and he wants it to "talk to his friends" when he feels a bit better. Is this a magic thing, maybe? Anyway, it'd be a great help if it's not any trouble.

Sincerely,
Judah Goldstein

Judah,

Than you so much for writing to me. All of us, especially his friends including myself, have been worried and anxious about news of Isaac's condition. We all suspected that there was indeed Dark magic at work for his condition. I was convinced myself after seeing him. But I am so very relieved his full recovery is on the way.

I do hope that Isaac's return to the school is swift. His presence was always of light and happiness, and the attack and his absence have all been quite unsettling for us as well. I hope you do not fret much over the prejudices reported to you. I know there are at least, if not more, wizards who side with the rational way of thinking and with acceptance.

Attached is Journal. These are a sort of network that the students can communicate by without direct speech; it is hard to explain. Ask Isaac to demonstrate to you how it works when he wakes up. And tell him-
Tell him I am sorry.

Isabelle LeBreton
