WHO: Francesca and Ken
WHEN: September 22. Evening.
WHERE: Slytherin common room and then who knows?
WHAT: Talking about their friend and the problems around school. Getting to know each other. Etc.
STATUS: Incomplete.
RATING: Low.

Chess was more than ready to just relax and enjoy some good and proper company. Classes weren't too stressful, but they'd been taking up a lot of time in the past couple weeks. Not only that but the attacks on Jasper were weighing heavily on her mind. She just couldn't get past how the school was doing nothing to stop those filthy mudbloods from hurting her friend. Even if it weren't a friend of hers it would still be ridiculous. She knew Kenneth felt the same way that she did, and the few times they'd hung out had been pleasant. She usually wasn't so forward as to suggest they spend time together, but Jasper's situation had brought them closer, and she figured it wouldn't hurt to hang out a little on their own. They could discuss the dispicable state of the school and just enjoy some time with people who weren't total imbeciles. It would be perfect, and she was also hoping they could decide on more ways to help their friend. Jasper could take care of himself, sure, but that didn't mean they should leave him to the wolves.

After dinner, Francesca made her way back to the dorm room to change out of her robes. With that finished, she headed down to the common room where they'd planned to meet. Knowing Ken, he would be punctual, and she had seen him during dinner for a brief time. Seating herself in one of the plush chairs, she waited with a book in hand, idly reading and watching her housemates as her eyes surveyed the area for her companion.

Ken had to admit he was most definitely looking forward to spending some time with Francesca, even if it was just some friendly company of a like minded person. There was more to it of course, he was not going to deny that she was nice to be around not just because of her opinions. Ken wouldn't admit it to anybody whom asked him now (unless it was Chess) but he definitely found her attractive. The last few times he and Chess had hung out he had a pleasant time with her. So yes Ken was most definitely looking forward to getting to know her more. Who knew, perhaps they could come up with some other way to help out Jasper. But if the evening was spent just talking that was an evening well spent in his book.

Like Francesca Ken had attended dinner with their schoolmates, some how they had missed each other in passing as they headed back to the Slytherin common room so when he came back down after changing out of his robes Ken was surprised to see her waiting there. He was glad he was not late, what kind of gentlemen would he be if he made her wait? Dressed in a nicer pair of khaki slacks and a polo shirt Ken made his way through the few people in the common room and leaned on the back of Chess' chair; he had purposely come up from behind her chair in the hopes of surprising her a little bit. Though severe and somber some times Ken was not above being friendly and playful to the right people, and Chess was most definitely the right person. "I was told there was supposed to be a particular witch waiting here for me. You may know her, about yay high, quite pretty." Ken held his hand out at about Chess' height as he spoke, a smile pulling across his lips at the obvious teasing flirt.

Chess was pretending to be reading while she waited, but really she was watching her peers interact. It was always quite interesting to see the dynamics in their house, and watch how friendships forged and continued. It was also amusing to see them disintegrate. She was studying a couple first years across the room when Ken approached from behind, so she didn't take notice before he spoke. Admittedly, Chess was a bit startled, but she kept her poise rather well. She only jumped a little bit, and her smile was genuine as she looked behind her and saw the playful expression on Ken's face. It was a nice change and one she was quite happy to enjoy.

"Oh yes. I do think I saw someone like that, but I had to chase her away when I discovered she was waiting for an attractive young gentleman." Her own response was easy and proper, while still being playful and flirtatious. Francesca was a bit tough and most definitely haughty, but she could relax and laugh playfully with those she trusted and felt close to. So far, only Audriana and Elle were party to those moods from her, but she could see being that way with Ken also.

Ken smiled when he saw Francesca jump just a little bit. He was not trying to be mean or anything, for once, but it was hard not to be pleased when you snuck up on somebody. Of course if she had an issues with it and voiced that issue he would gladly apologize for startling her. Ken did not think that she would be the type to make a big deal out of his playful actions. While there were very few around this school whom managed to get a smile from Kenneth Chess was turning out to be one of those rare few, just speaking with her and knowing that he was not alone in his views was pleasant. Sure he knew there were others of course but none as appealing as Chess. Ken was not shallow in any way but he was not going to say no she was no good looking, that would just be lying.

He could not help his teasing flirtatious words but did well to keep them polite. Francesca was indeed a proper lady and he would treat her as such, his mother would flay him even from beyond the grave if he didn't do so. He had been raised properly to give women respect; but a little light flirting and teasing was not a bad thing. Chess responded perfectly, the smile that blossomed across her face caused his to draw further. “Oh what a pity. I was so looking forward to getting to know her better.” Ken paused though as if to think on the topic and the change their plans had supposedly taken. “ I must say though, my current company is most definitely a suitable replacement. One promised pleasant company for another is just as well. Would you care to join me then?” Ken had not made plans as to just what they were going to do, possibly take a walk and find somewhere suitable to talk about what they saw fit. He was definitely hoping to get to know Chess a bit more on a personal level.
