In all honesty, Susan wasn't worried. She was fearful for others, but not for herself. Before she'd even left Hogwarts Susan Bones knew that she was going to find a similar fate as all others members of her family had. She would die young in the midst of a war. Death was so much easier to handle when you simply accepted it.
But when news broke in the DMLE of the attack, Susan knew she was going to have to work late. Leads needed to be followed and a plan of attack needed to be made. This is where Susan thrived. She loved being behind the scenes, plotting and planning the best possible defense and offense. One day she hoped to follow in her Aunt's footsteps and the rest of the department knew that. Susan worked longer than most people, coming in over the weekends and clocking extra hours. Normally it wasn't a big deal, but now she had someone else in her life.
After sending a quick owl home to Eddie, Susan threw herself back into her world. It wasn't until her boss told her to leave that Susan packed up her bag, dropped her robes over the back of her chair and headed downstairs to leave. She really didn't think that Eddie was going to come pick her up and so when she walked into the atrium and saw him standing there, the look of shock on her face was obvious.
And, yeah. Seeing her boyfriend at the end of a long day? That was pretty great. Susan walked over to him with a little smile on her face. "You actually showed up."
