If saying that she'd come back for the wedding, and then still ducked out on it anyway, was supposed to make Daphne feel better? It wasn't. It hurt that Astoria couldn't just accept Daphne's choices. And it hurt that she couldn't have put her difference of opinion aside for one day. And it wasn't like it was just any day. It was her wedding. It had been such an important day for her and it wasn't like Daphne was ever going to have another one. Her own family had been so absent from the whole thing that Clint's father had had to be the one to walk her down the aisle. Well, she supposed she was being a little unfair. Her mother had showed up. Of course, she was drunk and bitchy so Daphne didn't really feel that attending was enough to put her back into the 'good family' column.
"You had questions?" Daphne echoed, raising a slight brow. What sort of questions did Astoria have? And why did that have anything to do with her leaving? If you have questions...you ask them. That's how that works. It wasn't rocket science. "About what?" she asked, honestly having no idea what she could have wanted to ask.
Of course, Daphne instantly regretted even asking, knowing that it would lead to possibly an actual conversation and she wasn't sure she was up to that. Whatever good mood she'd be in a few days ago had quickly worn off and she was back to being her usual annoyed self. And seeing Astoria? Was just annoying her more. Usually she found how shy and quiet Astoria got almost endearing, but right now? It was actually kind of making her angry. It was completely irrational so she bit it back, doing her best to try to be calm and understanding and...receptive.
