Daphne shook her head when Astoria said she was worth more than a contract. That really didn't matter. It never had. Daphne had been her father's way to keep their family in a certain level of society and that had been the extent of that. What she wanted, who she wanted to be? Had never really played a factor in the direction that Daphne's life went. Luckily, she'd ended up with Clint and that was...that was better than anything she could have ever imagined for herself. Sure he didn't spend a lot of time at home and they'd never actually owned up to any sort of feelings past friendship for the other, but he was nice and he cared and they got along and despite the fact that she couldn't say it, she really did love him. And that? That was more than she'd ever imagined getting out of an arranged marriage.
"Look, Astoria. I don't want to be mad at you. Well, I sort of do but...I need you," she said with a small shrug. "You're my sister and you infuriate me. A lot. But I love you and just want things to be okay with us. So I'm sorry for being mad," she said, figuring she just needed to swallow her pride or whatever and get over the whole thing. There was really no point in holding a grudge. Plus, Astoria was clearly upset and Daphne didn't want to upset her.
