"Everyone get down! Watch out A--" an explosion erupted from somewhere in the distance, and Harry was sent flying away from his group. He winced, and quickly pushed himself up to his feet, watching as Wizards and Witches around him threw their spells back down the corridor, and through the door they had to retreat through; the room on the other side was intense. The potion's warehouse opened into a large room for potion making, and obviously there were corridors that ran along the upper levels, looking down into the large room; that was where they'd been ambushed.
"Where's Drew?" Harry managed, and noted someone nodding towards the room again. He was a sitting duck in there! Harry was already leaping over a fallen comrade, and rushing towards the door as his partner shouted for him to stop. Potter never listened though, and soon burst through the door. He saw Drew standing over two of the other fallen Aurors, both were alive though. His shield was failing though, and Harry moved towards them, grabbing the two individuals, while Kirk provided cover fire, "Get out here. Come on!"
Harry dragged them towards the exit, one by one, while Drew's shield still stood, and handed them over to two more Aurors, "Get them out, now." He turned around and could see the fallen Aurors in the room already, and then glanced to Drew, just as someone came up from behind him and went to fire an Avadra Kadavra, but already Drew was turning to deal with him when the shield shattered and Drew was struck down from behind, "No!"
Harry's wand was already up, and he shouted towards the man who'd sneaked up on Drew, "Expulso!" The spell erupted beneath the man's feet, exploding and sending him high into the air; Harry quickly rolled behind a box, came up, and pointed at the flying man, "Expelliarmus!" The powerful kinetic blast slammed into the man's chest and sent him careening into a few of his others in the upper levels.
He leaped from behind the crate, and brought up his wand again. Three quick stupefies fired in succession ahead of him at three men, and then he had his wand suddenly behind his back and fired off to his side dropping a man coming up on his left flank. He dropped next to Drew and fired up a Protego, but it was too late, Drew was dead and the fight was still raging. He could see it in Drew's eyes.
Harry reenacted the entire scene in his head, over and over again. He hadn't seen Geoff go down either, but the reports afterwards said he'd gone too, and a few more close friends on the squad. Harry's own gut wretched at the thought, and he wanted to suddenly vomit; however, he held it off. His face whitened, but he ignored it, an just made his way forward.
He walked with a bit of a limp, a large scar was seen recently dried up of blood; running from his forehead, down just over his right eye, and then continued back down along his cheek. Blood stained his shirt, and he was already starting to show signs of bruising along his cheeks and chin. A black eye had formed on his other eye, and his clothes were tattered and a mess. Yet, he was alive, and that was something others couldn't say tonight, so he felt an obligation to not whine about his condition until things were made right.
He was supposed to meet Lavender, but obviously things had gone much later, and Mandy needed to know. It was far more important than dinner plans. So Harry arrived at her door--it hadn't taken him too much time to use his resources to figure out where she was--and knocked softly on it. Breathing heavily, he simply waited. Next stop would be the Hoopers'.
