Adrian hadn't heard Emma enter, having been talking at the time, but it was hard to miss the sound of her voice, no matter how hesitant it was. His attention shifted easily from Katie to Emma as his eyes found her edging into the room. After the afternoon he'd had, Adrian was more than happy to see her. His annoyance immediately drained from him and a portion of his tension dissipated as well. No matter who came to see him, he wasn't ever going to be completely comfortable in the hospital.
A slow smile stretched across his face at the sight of the flowers she'd brought with her. Originally he had thought she'd brought them for Katie, having heard about their meeting at the Quidditch game, but when she set them down on the table beside his bed he nearly laughed. How absurd ... and strangely adorable. Noticing the way she was fidgeting, he shifted over to make room for her.
"Emma Dobbs," he responded, not even bothered that he was flirting with her in front of Katie. He'd all but forgotten about her. "Did you just bring me flowers?"
