WHO: Kahea, O'Brien, and Ellie (maybe George for moral support?) WHAT: Waiting, pacing, holding back tears WHERE: NYPL WHEN: March 31, early morning RATING: PG-13 for language STATUS: In progress.
Kahea's memory of how she got to the library was fuzzy, and she almost asked O'Brien why he was there to meet her at the entrance because she had forgotten about the fact she texted him. All she knew for sure was one minute she was asleep, as well as one can sleep by themselves with the walking dead around, and the next Ikaika was barking and attacking. Everything happened so fast. Kahea grabbed her bag and some random object, which turned out to be a hockey stick, and began fighting her way out of the shelter she had for the night.
Shufflers and walkers were suddenly pouring into what Kahea had thought would be an unnoticed safe haven for the night. But she had been wrong. She pushed, shoved and hit her way out of the building, not fearing for herself as much as her animals. She was immune, but she wasn't entirely sure of Anela and Ikaika. Once she was out of the building, she realized Anela wasn't with her and Ikaika was whining. Kahea found her cat just inside of the door and managed to grab her and start running before anymore could get to her. It was during Kahea's run that she saw the blood beginning to cover her hand.
That's when instincts kicked in and Kahea sent out messages to those she knew and started running to a safehouse, which turned out to be the Library. Kahea wasn't sure why she headed off there, but she was sure in the back of her mind she went there because of Ellie and the other doctor and the possiblity that someone could help her. Once she got there, O'Brien met her at the entrance and they went to locate help. Kahea was reluctant to hand over her barely moving feline friend, but she didn't know what to do.
Now she was waiting, pacing, and trying to hold back tears. Ikaika sat and let out a whine every so often as his brown eyes followed his friend.
