It had been a long while since Evan had been to the library. The past couple times that he'd seen Eloise, it had been her who had traveled, which made far less sense since as far as Evan knew, she wasn't immune and he was definitely certain that he was. It evaded him, why he hadn't made the trip yet. But he was now, and he smiled a little bit as he pushed the door open and kicked the snow off of his boots on the door frame.
It had been a long time since he'd been this genuinely excited to see someone who wasn't George or Danny. But he was, and he couldn't deny it. He searched around a little bit, looking for the stairs to the second floor where Eloise told him that she'd be, and hurried toward them when he found them he took them two at a time to get to the top faster. A slightly old habit, he passed it off as, but he knew in the back of his mind that it was really because he was just eager to see her. Easy conversations were to be cherished now, especially when you were like Evan and tended to push people away. And there was something else about her, too. Something that was harder to identify; it was harder to walk away than it should have been.
He knew what it was, admitting it was just a problem.
Now that he was at the top of the stairs, he tugged his gloves off and stuffed them into his jacket pocket, and set about searching for that familiar, hopefully smiling, face.
