Sometimes Vienna wished she could read Noah better, because it would eliminate this apprehensive feeling inside of her if she just knew why he was here. But as much a she wished she could see beyond the weary, yet unreadable expression on his face, she also had to admit that the mystery of Noah was part of what attracted her to him. He kept her on her toes and guessing, and most times that was a good thing. Except for right now, when all she wanted was to know if this ‘we need to talk’ scenario was going to end in heartbreak for her or not.
Shifting slightly, Vienna found herself fidgeting with the hem of her t-shirt as she held Noah’s gaze, searching for some kind of answer. One which she knew she wouldn’t get until they actually spoke, yet she tried anyway.
It never once occurred to her that she should try and explain why Ty was in the apartment, by now she had just assumed everyone knew he was Bea’s friend. A part of her was relieved that unlike her, Noah hadn’t jumped to some kind of inaccurate conclusion. Or maybe he had simply assumed that Ty and Bea were more than what they were, after all he probably wouldn’t have been the first person to make that assumption.
The kiss to Ty’s cheek wasn’t meant as some way to try and evoke a jealous reaction from Noah, she wasn’t that devious and she didn’t want a repeat of some kind of jealousy fueled argument, one of those had been bad enough. No, it had simply been her way of saying ‘thanks’. Although she didn’t know her sister’s best friend all that well, she did consider him family and so far he had been kind of awesome when it came to her kid. She laughed softly when Ty returned to the couch and instructed Ledger to move.
The little boy listened obediently to Ty, despite the gruff nature of his request. Ledger quirked up one little eyebrow at the beauty sleep comment. “Isn’t that only for girls?” He asked while he shifted on the couch to make room for the older man.
This whole situation was still more awkward than Vienna would have liked it to be; yet she found herself nodding when Noah responded. “Okay,” She didn’t waste anymore time with standing awkwardly at the door, and thankfully the trip across the living room was short.
After they had both stepped into the room, Vienna closed the door behind them and turned to Noah, still resisting the urge close the distance between them. “So,” she knew the apprehension was written all over her face. “What is it you wanted to talk about?” Part of her already had an idea, but she didn’t want to jump to conclusions, not again.
