WHO: Noah and Vienna, with cameos by Ty and Ledger
WHERE: Bea and Vienna's place
WHEN: March 11, 2020 ; shortly before midnight
WHAT: an unannounced visit to break the tension
RATING: medium?
Noah was having a bad night. Nothing he could think of to do seemed to stave off his restlessness and negative thoughts for very long. He'd had a run and a shower, he'd read books and played his guitar, but all he could seem to dwell on was the fact that he was alone, again, like he'd been so often just lately. Solitude had never troubled him before... but maybe it was bothering him now because things had been so different with him and Vienna ever since that day when she'd come upon him and Rufus talking so up close and personal.
Supposedly, they'd worked it out. The problem was that it didn't feel worked out. The easy rapport they'd had since they'd first met seemed to be hiding away somewhere, and the brief conversations they'd had since then felt stilted. This wasn't Noah's area, the whole relationship thing, and he just wanted it all to be normal again. He was smart enough to know that wasn't going to magically just happen, but he wanted it to. He missed V showing up here to talk, to hang out, and okay, to rock his world. Still, he knew it wasn't only the absence of getting laid that was bothering him. He missed her.
Lying on his back on his bunk, Noah stared at the ceiling. Was she staying away to prove a point, to drive home to him that he'd miss her if she wasn't around? He didn't know if that was the kind of game she'd play or not. It probably wasn't a game at all. Maybe she just didn't want to deal with the strangeness that had cropped up between them. He was driving himself nuts thinking about it, and finally he got up and dressed in a sweatsuit and his running shoes, not bothering with socks. It was late, but he didn't care. He had to do something with the uneasiness that churned inside him, and the only thing he could think of that would make him feel better would be seeing Vienna.
Ty had crashed at Bea's again, like he did at least three or four days out of seven. He'd run himself ragged at the infirmary, and he was tired, so he'd been sacked out on the couch in the front room for a couple of hours. By this point, Ty had his own bedding that he kept here: a pillow and a fleece-lined blanket. He'd just haul them out of the nearest closet when it was time to bed down.
Tonight, like on many nights when he stayed here, Ledger had crept out of Vienna's bed and piled up on the couch with him, and Ty had barely wakened when he did, just enough to shift over a little and pull the blanket over the kid, too. He wouldn't have admitted it for anything, but he kind of liked having the little guy think enough of him to want to sleep with him when he was here. Okay, it was cute, even if he hadn't been in favor of Bea sneaking a photo of it. There was only so much a guy could take, after all. At least there wasn't fucking Facebook any longer for her to post humiliating pictures on; that was something.
The determined knock at the door took a couple of minutes to rouse him, and when it did, Ty swore under his breath. Who the hell would be coming to the door this late? He disengaged from Ledger and got up, padding across the floor in his sock feet and dressed in the t-shirt and sweatpants he usually slept in. Yanking the door open, he snarled, "What?"
Noah recognized the guy who opened the door; a friend of Bea's. Friend with benefits? he had to wonder, having no idea why else Ty would be here at this hour. "Sorry," he said quietly, well aware that it was an outrageous time to be visiting. "I need to see V. Is she here?"
Ty was still groggy and not in a good mood at all at being so abruptly awakened. "Where else you think she'd be, the Copa-fucking-cabana?" He heaved a deep sigh and turned to see Ledger sitting up on the couch and blinking at both of them. Stellar. Now the kid was going to repeat what he'd said to Vienna, and she was going to skin him alive and give what remained of him to Bea, and then she'd skin him the rest of the way.
