WHO: Caitie and George
WHAT: Being caught practicing her ability.
WHEN: 02/18/20, morning.
WHERE: In the library.
RATING: Medium, maybe?
CHALLENGE: Envy vs. forgiveness
Freak. Caitie hated that word so much. She sighed as she sat in the back corner of the library—a place that she was least likely to see Maddie—using her "talent" to pull books to her and sighing in frustration every time it worked. For once, she didn't want it to work. So maybe she could be normal. Not a freak. But she hadn't had any luck so far. Honestly, she didn't think it was that terrible a thing, what she could do here. Being able to move things with your mind was cool. Being able to get things to her without having to move would be handy and everything. But she couldn't even tell her best friend. The word freak resonated in her head and kept her from saying anything. She hadn't even submitted that little form at the administrative office, just in case someone asked her about it when Maddie was around. The last thing she wanted was for Maddie to think she was a freak. She looked up on one of the higher shelves, for a book thick enough to test herself. When she spotted it, she focused her energy on it, pulling it down from the shelf and dropping it on the top of the stack in front of her legs with a dull thud. She made a small, frustrated noise and kicked at the pile with the toe of her shoe, knocking it down in front of her. "Stupid book," she seethed. She'd keep trying until it didn't work, ignoring the slight ache she was starting to feel in her head. Further away this time. She looked down at the end of the shelf in front of her and focused on the last book in the line. "Just stay there," she muttered to the book, grunting in annoyance when it slid off the shelf and toward her. "Ugh," she thought, drawing it through the air, closer to her. |
