“And here I'd been thinking for years that morning people were extinct.” With a lopsided grin, Maddie nodded. “You did. The pillow I put over my head is usually a good sign when you're loud.” She hadn't minded it that morning. In fact, she'd joined in, although it was less singing on her part and more making noise just for the sake of making noise.
“Obviously! And the other best roomie fetches the food, because she's awesome like that.” She nodded seriously. When Caitie rubbed her arms, it caught Maddie's attention, but she didn't think much of it. “And coffee's good for chasing away the chills, too, so quick! Be both of our heroes and get it mixed up.”
“It's bad enough they bore us with the same old stuff all the time. We should plan to mess up the kitchen again soon. Hide all the crap they serve all the time and put the good, new stuff where it's easy to find.” It was a more organized plan than she usually had, but people always knew they were around when there was a mess. Sometimes, sneaky was better.
“Yeah, about the only thing I used to like that they had a lot of back in the city was popcorn.” It had gotten to the point where she was sick of it now. “At least when we were living at the Americana. Grand Central had more stuff. Not really good stuff, but it was different.” So, as much as she complained about it, the food at Sing Sing was a whole lot better than what she'd been used to for the previous years.
She reached for her second donut before she'd even finished chewing the last bite of the first. Donuts were awesome. "I think I'm gonna dye my hair orange today. I've been putting it off for a while, but it's definitely time for a change." Her natural auburn was beginning to peek through as her hair grew out.
