"If anyone finds out who they are, I think being eaten by zombies would be the least of their worries," Caitie mused. And it was probably true. A whole lot of people around here were out to get this particular person. They were going to have a miserable life, if they were ever found out.
She didn't say anything right away, instead chuckled softly and looked at the floor. "She would've." Her mom was just like that. "Ha, it's okay. The stuff you gave me was totally perfect. Next time we go to Ossining, we will rid the town of every last toe sock they have and share them between us. Because socks are totally the only clothing thing we can share," she added with a little laugh.
Since she was completely unaware of the internal debate going on in Maddie's head, she took the dry blanket and wrapped it around her shoulders, sitting on the floor and waiting for the actual time to go to bed. The thought of sharing a bed didn't even cross her mind, because in her mind, Maddie would never even entertain that idea. She was probably still too weirded out, probably still too grossed out or whatever by Caitie to even think about it.
The floor wouldn't be so bad, anyway. A little hard, but she'd slept in worse places. "It's my stupid fault, though. I'm more likely to get sick in a cold and wet bed than on a cold floor, right?"
