Maddie nodded. “Exactly why I'm thinking it's her. Kori hasn't been mentioned in either of those rumor posts, so it only makes sense to me.”
Then again, there hadn't been anything specifically about Maddie either, so perhaps it was unfair to think that it might be Kori. Fairness wasn't exactly a foreign concept to Maddie, but it was more along the lines of the type of foreign where she knew a few words but pronounced them poorly. It was a little far-fetched even to her to think that Bitchy Stone would post a rumor about having a demon kid, but she didn't say that. She knew Caitie didn't like the woman, so she silently went along with it.
“Holey socks are almost as bad as soggy socks.” She could deal with some holes, at least. As long as they weren't in the toes, which... they usually were. It used to be a lot worse when they hadn't been able to get their hands on a pair of toenail clippers. “But I hate wearing shoes all the time, so I guess it's a small price to pay for having comfy feet.”
Watching the water drip onto Caitie's bed, Maddie was glad she'd had sense enough to not attempt the game on the bed. Her own blanket wasn't totally dry, but the damp area could be easily avoided. She snorted a little too loudly. “Totes should've gotten in the floor like me,” she said to her friend, grinning. “Now you've got a wet bed,” she sing-songed.
