Huh. Well, that was another good point. Maddie nodded her agreement. She laughed a little too loudly at Caitie’s suggestion for who the rumor person was. “That’d be pretty funny. Especially if he was the one who called Bitchy Stone a demon.” She really didn’t think it was Leader Guy, for more reasons than just that particular rumor. “I’m sure he does something immature and stupid, though. Either that or he really is that boring.”
“Blegh. I thought that helpful thing was supposed to be hair of the dog, not hair of the cat.” The complaint was affectionate, though, because even as she spoke, she scooped the cat up in her hand and started climbing to her feet. This was a bit difficult, given that she was wrapped in a blanket, but she managed to get on the bed. “I’m not sure which is more annoying – cat fur or feathers.”
Maddie shrugged a shoulder. “It’s what George told me.” Vaguely, anyway. Maddie didn’t really care what went on there, so long as her brother stopped being depressed and hard to talk to. “Have you talked much to Luke’s sister? I’ve seen her around, but I haven’t, like, stopped to chat with her or anything. It feels too weird, seeing a girl version of Luke.” George had told her once that she was like the female version of Luke. She wondered if George had known then that Luke actually did have a twin.
“Sucks to be a lot of people.” That was all she said. Maddie had tried talking to Luke about the rumor posted about him, but he’d understandably gotten all defensive and started verbally attacking her for the millionth time. Whatever, though. She should’ve expected that he wouldn’t talk to her about that kind of thing.
“So what d’you wanna do now? I don’t wanna sleep yet.”
