It was dumb. “I know. I guess we should be grateful that they aren’t doing anything, since they all think it’s us and stuff,” she pointed out. “Still dumb, though. I bet it’s someone they’d never suspect. Wouldn’t it be super funny if it was Leader Guy?” she asked with a snorted laugh. “All the preaching and whatever that he does about being mature and he’s spreading rumors and stuff?” It didn’t make sense, but what did nowadays?
Caitie couldn’t stop a little laugh when Maddie ended up having to pluck cat hair off her tongue. “How’d that taste?” she asked with a little grin. “At least it wasn’t butt fuzz,” she added, referring to the other day when one of the kittens sat on her face in her sleep.
She’d always been vaguely aware of Maddie’s thing for Jerk Stone--she always defended him when people spoke negatively about him, and they had a lot of things in common--but she’d thought it was gone. The way Maddie phrased what she said made her realize that maybe it wasn’t so gone. Jealousy pricked at her stomach, but when Maddie spoke again, it dragged her from that. “Wait--” before she could finish, Maddie explained what she meant, and then Caitie’s eyes widened when she mentioned the ‘weird relationship’ with Luke’s weird sister. “Huh. Weird match...” she mused. “That’d be too weird for me, anyway. He’s, like... he’s not my type.”
Nodding her agreement, Caitie sighed. “It does. Kinda sucks to be Luke right now, too,” she added. “Having a rumor spread about your sexuality sucks when you are into the same sex, so like...” she shrugged. She wasn’t sure if Luke did like guys or not, but if he didn’t, it sucked even worse.
