Evan shifted their position a little and then patted the table for Leah to sit up there. “I've only got a couple days before Christmas to finish up what I need to finish,” he mused with a little chuckle.
“What'd you manage to get for her?” Once again, he considered addressing the issue of her going out on her own, or without him, but he didn't right now. This wasn't the time, so close to Christmas. “George is tough to shop for... if you can call what we do shopping, anyway. Safest bet is dance stuff and books, or nice clothes, since that's what she grew up on and everything, but she's easy to please. She'll be glad you thought of her to begin with.”
Costanzo. That woman who showed up that Leah didn't like. When she mentioned that the woman kissed her, Evan's eyes were wide almost instantly, instinctively. “Wait, what?” he asked her. “So, is that why you were so out of sorts yesterday?” he asked. “Why didn't you tell me then?” No, he wasn't going to make a big deal out of it, but still, she hadn't told him. “Eh, it happens. I'm sure she didn't know that we were together,” he paused, “though the baby bump might've been a good hint...” he added. “Either way, I guess it's not a big deal. It's done. You told her that you're with me now, right?”
The smile that he'd been wearing faded almost immediately when she mentioned that she was thinking of going back out. “No,” he said simply, sort of abruptly. “No more,” he added seriously. “It's getting too dangerous for you to go out there, Leah. You're carrying a child, you can't be out there anymore.” He tried to keep his voice calm, but as he went on, he found it a little more difficult.
“I mean,” he swallowed nervously, knowing that maybe he was opening himself up for a load of anger from his girlfriend. “You've told me that you're worried that the baby isn't moving. This could be why, Leah. You're putting excess stress on a situation that's pretty volatile to begin with, so...” he pressed his lips together.
