WHO: Leah and Evan
WHAT: Ultrasound time.
WHERE: The infirmary.
WHEN: 12/02/19, morning
RATING: Low, maybe medium.
CHALLENGE: Childhood memory
Delayed gratification was something that Evan had never been good at. So, naturally, when they'd gone to their ultrasound appointment on Friday and the machine had been broken, Evan had been a little disappointed. It was understandable—nowadays, machines like that broke a lot more frequently than they used to—but it was still disappointing. Fortunately enough, Zachary wasn't as trouble prone as his sister was, and he'd fixed the machine quickly enough. Evan only knew what he was doing from the couple of times, near the end of the pregnancy, when he'd been with Rae when she'd had hers done. But he'd paid close attention nonetheless. It was one of those things where he didn't figure he'd ever have to use it, but it was a useful skill to have all the same. So, before they'd left that morning, he'd insisted that he be the one to perform the ultrasound, not one of the medical staff. Besides, it was something that he wanted to share with her, and her alone. At least until they started going public about the whole thing. Later on, depending on the mood that this event set, Evan would confront her about going out looting while she was pregnant. If the mood was positive, then he wouldn't say anything right away. But if the mood went sour, well... he couldn't guarantee anything. It was still eating at the back of his mind, after all, knowing that she was willing to put their child—and his sanity, as well as her own—at risk just to run around outside the walls? Well... it was disconcerting to say the least. He patted the bed, his smile not quite as resilient as he expected it to be right now, because of that fact. “Up,” he told her with a little smile. “Let's get this show on the road, hm?” |
