This wasn’t at all why Zach had come to talk to Charlie. He knew from her standpoint it looked like he must be judging her decisions, but he wasn’t. All he was trying to do was to get her to see how reckless she was being – and yeah, a part of him selfishly didn’t want to lose any more siblings to this infection. That’s something he thought Charlie would understand, but apparently he was on an island all his own with this.
“And just because you think you have to go out there to contribute to this place, that doesn’t make it true,” he was of the opinion that one didn’t have to risk their life to be a contributing member of society at Sing Sing.
Scrubbing a hand over his face, Zach had to wonder how they got to this point. “I don’t want to fight about this either, Charlie,” he opened his eyes and met his sister’s gaze. “But I can’t just stand by and not say something while you’re throwing yourself into the line of danger.” Zach could respect her decision, but that didn’t mean he’d stand idly by as she endangered herself.
“Yeah, sure,” he answered, knowing he didn’t have much of an option but to agree to talk later. Grabbing onto her arm lightly, Zach stopped her in her path as he said. “Charlie, please be careful.”
