WHO: Zach and Charlie
WHAT: Zach begins to mend bridges.
WHERE: Charlie's cell.
WHEN: November 13th, 2019; Early Morning.
PROMPT: 'Don't wait up for me'
RATING: Medium, maybe.
Mending bridges was the name of the game lately for Zach. It felt a little bit like that was all he was doing recently, and rightfully so. He'd fucked up with Charlie, Maddie and Dillon. Nothing in the world should have made him go all M.I.A. on them, and yet he had, and there wasn't a single thing he could do to take that back. All he could do was work to mend whatever damage had been caused, and promise to never be such a sad excuse for a brother ever again. Besides a couple brief conversations here and there with Charlie during the whole wall chaos, Zach hadn't really spoken to her one on one in God knows how long. Which meant it was about time he remedy that. He dreaded it though, not the apology part, that needed to happen. What he worried about was Charlie giving him the cold shoulder. It would be deserved, but it would still suck. His shift at the infirmary was done, he'd pulled the overnight shift again, mostly to avoid whatever happened when he was alone at night. Even if he shift was done, that didn't mean it was the last they would see of him. He'd likely make his way back there after tracking Charlie down. Zach had a hard time getting away from that place, he trusted the staff he had there, but so many of them had simply been students when the infection broke out, so on the list of people who had seen things first hand, he ranked at the top of that list. Which meant he tried to be there as much as possible, Zach let his mind wander as he made his way in the direction of Charlie's cell, figuring he'd start there and if he didn't find her he'd move onto wherever else she frequented in this place. Times like these it'd be real handy if he was allowed to put a tracking device on his siblings. Somehow he had a feeling Maddie wouldn't go for it, probably not Dillon either. He could maybe plead his case with Charlie though, tell her it was for her own safety and she might be okay with it. He was chuckling at the thought of that as he reached his younger sister's cell and tapped the back of his hand against the frame of the door. It was ajar, so Zach kicked it open the rest of the way and poked his head into the space. If Charlie had been changing or something she would have latched the door, or at least that's what he figured. No naked sister, so that was a plus, but what he did see was what looked to be a bag sitting on the end of her bed, and scanning the rest of the cell he smiled at Charlie when his gaze finally landed on her sitting at the little desk in the small space. "Going somewhere?" He motioned towards the bag, fighting down the panic he always felt whenever he knew Charlie was thinking of going looting. |
