Concentrated thought and Jax were not well met. He'd always been the type who spoke first and thought later, if ever. Maybe one day, maturity would help him temper his reactions and the words that actually came out of his mouth, but that hadn't happened yet. "You're welcome," he said, reaching for a pencil from the holder on the desktop and twirling it around between his fingers. The metal rim next to the eraser was fresh and smooth and nobody had ever chewed on it. He was seriously considering changing that status quo, but for now he was content to play with it. "She's probably a zombie now, but whatevs. Maybe she was immune like me." He was pleased that he'd made the nurse laugh, and he smiled broadly.
He added tapping one sneakered foot against the floor to his fidgeting as he thought about Jess's question. "Well, I guess the thing would plummet to the ground. Unless you knew how to land it, which I don't. I never thought about it before, but there has to be a way to steer 'em down when you're done." So many mysteries the world contained, and now the answers might never be known, given the circumstances. It was frustrating. He shrugged a shoulder. "Yeah, I wasn't really expecting you to be able to do that." His eyebrows lifted when she said she could attempt to entertain him. "Yeah? How?"
