Although she didn't think Bea or anyone else would believe her, Vienna honestly hadn't been looking to start an argument with her comment. It had been an honest question or remark. "Did I ever say I was perfect?" The question came out snappier than she intended. "You're better than I am, honestly. Not even a year passed before I was assuming you were dead," she hated admitting that. It made her sound heartless, when really she just hadn't had the energy to face both the shift in her world and trying to find Bea. "I didn't even look for you, I had Thomas doing it for me." Because back then the traces of the girl she used to be had been stronger. But like everything else in her life, that had been wiped out as well.
She couldn't help the way she felt about everything. It wasn't Bea's fault though, and sooner or later Vienna knew she would need to let everything go. Life was too short to hold onto grudges, but she had been holding onto these for so long that she knew it would take awhile before she was able to let them go.
This had definitely not been the kind of reunion Vienna had expected. But in some ways she wasn't even sure what kind of reunion she had been expecting. Definitely not an overly emotional one full of hugs, gushing and tears. Well, the tears had happened, but everything else wasn't in Bea's character and it really wasn't in hers either, at least not anymore. "I don't exactly carry money anymore, Bea, so unless you want like hairpins or a bar of soap, I really don't have anything for you," as she spoke she caught up with Bea, coming to walk beside her. "It was supposed to be a joke." Vienna pointed out, wondering if maybe her sister hadn't picked up on that.
Glancing sideways at Bea, she just nodded. "Lead the way."
Vienna still couldn't remember if the guy at the gate had given his name or not. It didn't really matter, she would either figure it out later or she wouldn't. "Okay," she looked in the direction her sister motioned, not thrilled about the idea of living in a cell, but it wasn't like she could get picky. "Still as bossy as ever." Vienna remarked as she tossed the guy the keys to the truck before heading off in the direction Bea had motioned towards earlier.
