"Uh huh," Ledger replied with a smile as wide as could be as he glanced between Vienna and Bea. Soon though the three year old was wiggling and attempting to get out of his mother's grasp. Something which he was failing at, mostly because Vienna wasn't ready to set him down just yet. She wasn't using her son as shield against her sister, she just didn't want to be alone with Bea just yet.
It was obvious Bea didn't remember Thomas. A pang of sadness went through Vienna. Not because her sister didn't remember her boyfriend. More so that she was probably one of the last people on this planet that even knew he had existed. "Never said you weren't," she snapped back, not bothering to keep her tone in check like she might have five years ago. Vienna paused as she bite down on the inside of her bottom lip. She wasn't going to cry here. Wasn't going to let past hurts cloud her judgment.
Too bad nobody told her emotions that part. "Yeah I know, you were too busy for me or anyone else from your old life." Her words surprised even herself. Sure she had thought that time and again, that Bea had left her alone to fend for herself in the masses of the Upper East Side. But she never intended to voice those thoughts to her. "Yeah, so am I." There were days Vienna still wished she could turn back time to the day Thomas had been bitten, save him from it somehow. But wishes didn't get her very far, so she tried not to entertain those thoughts often.
Vienna huffed and rolled her eyes at Bea. "Ever stop to think it's because I don't think it'll make a damn difference?" Part of her knew that Bea was lashing out because she didn't do the whole emotional shit thing. But really would it have killed her to be even marginally affectionate for five minutes? "You've been standing there looking at my like I'm a pod person this entire time, so me setting down Ledger and Tipsy probably won't change anything."
"Pays to know people," Vienna replied with a shrug. Not entirely willing to admit how she had managed to get the truck. Desperate times called for desperate measures and all that shit. She wasn't proud of what she had done, but it wasn't like she could take back sleeping with the guy now, could she? "If your offering I could use the help," she paused for a moment when Bea mentioned cell blocks. It hurt that her sister hadn't offered to put her and Ledger up, but maybe she didn't have the space. "And I gave up staying at places like the four seasons a long time ago. So a cell is just fine so long as it has a bed and blankets, I'm not going to complain." Complaining was something she had given up a long time ago, there wasn't much of a point in doing it now.
