“I’d lead if I was needed. Otherwise, there are better qualified people than me to handle those things.” They both already knew that, though.
Leah smirked. “Now you’re stuck with me,” she finished his sentence. “And I know all your little games and secrets and you can’t fool me.”
She nodded. “We’re two completely different people now.” And they had each other to thank for that. “Your charm is about the only thing your scrawniness is good for,” she teased him.
Leah still felt a little strange accepting Olivia’s necklace, but she didn’t want to run the risk of hurting Evan’s feelings, so she accepted it with a nod. “If you can see to work the clasps,” she said with a smile as she handed over the necklace. A camp light didn’t provide that much light; she didn’t know how difficult it would be to see to put the necklace on.
“Sounds like a good idea to me. Lilah said she’d be okay with Mari spending the night, too.”
